The RHS Speech & Debate Team is venturing into a debate event called "Public Forum." There are key distinctions to this format: it is two vs. two debate ("PRO" vs. "CON"), the topic changes every two months, there are a larger number of and types of speeches for each side, and a coin flip determines sides and order of speaking. Each team needs to be ready to debate the PRO side and the CON side in either order. For example, a team who wins a coin flip could decide to be the CON side but their opponents could choose to go second as the PRO side, thereby reversing the speaking order: CON, PRO, CON, PRO, etc. The Public Forum topic is below:

In Public Forum, each speaker will have a constructive speech, crossfire time, a summary or a final focus speech, and grand crossfire. The speech order is below:
Each team has three minutes of prep time which can be used at the team's discretion. See the above PDFs for specific roles, ordering, and speech lengths, as well as a sample form a judge would use to evaluate a round.
