Grade 6 | 1-2 Lessons
Students work together in groups to think of an interesting and unusual school trip and calculate how much it would cost. They use a laptop to look up prices and a worksheet with a number of questions as a guideline. Besides this, they are free to approach the assignment however they wish. The main purpose is to focus on the process of working together, generating ideas, and developing an understanding of the value of money.
Calculating costs for the trip as a whole and per student (addition and division)
Building awareness of money and costs
