The Neon District

''If there were ever to be a heart of technology, this would be it''

The next biggest project of the Magitek Order, the most advanced city in the world, the Neon District is an extreme project newly built from generation 1 Magitek with the intention of discovery on just how much Magitek can effect every day life. Intended to function as both a regular advanced city and as a house for the greatest testing districts in the world, still under construction, this city is expected to be a ''state of the art revelation to the world of magitek, and lifestyles as we know it.''

The District

Constructed over the course of the past two years in the heart of Thaxunora, a world region renowned for both its open empty plains, and it's naturally high amount of technological enhancements and biomes, all of which the Magitek order put to high use while constructing said city. The intentions behind this city aren't completely clear and statements from the order about it are spread far and thin, but the main answer provided is for the progression of magitek as a whole, with the introduction of the brand new Generation 1 magitek.

Inspired by most sci-fi cyberpunk cities, the Neon District is a huge futuristic city coloured bright with the entire neon spectrum in the form of simple lights, neon billboards, store lights and glow of the magitek wiring within and around the edges of the buildings. This bright glow means there is never a need for any kind of street lamps, and vehicles aren't required to have functional, or any, headlights to be considered road worthy.

The city is constantly shrouded in a twilight unless changed by those who control the city's technology, and is raining almost exclusively, though usually a light drizzle. This is caused by the magitek barrier which surrounds the city for its defences, refer to Demographic and Technology for more information.

It is the first city in the world to not use gold and crystals as its currency. Instead, it uses completely digital currency called credits. You cannot use gold or crystals in this city.
Credits conversion rates:
1 gold = 10 credits
1 crystal = 50 credits

Demographic and Technology

The Neon District proves to be a common hotspot for people looking to improve their technological outlook or live within a city which is under the watchful eyes of a well known, well praised collective of individuals just like this. The completed construction of its residential districts has been long awaited by those interested in the vast city, and immediately on housing being opened to the public was swarmed by like minded individuals. Just like any city with new opportunities, it does not just attract good people, but also those with semi- or completely- malicious intent. The vast undergrounds were swarmed by individuals looking to avoid the great security of the city, but trade the newfound wares of the place in peace.

The entire city is advanced in magitek beyond the rest of the world, with absolutely everything having applications of it in them. Onotek is banned in the city with the governing officials claiming that this is a chance for magitek to shine on its own, without the influence of the ancient technologies and primal ways of power, and that this is a chance for them to completely wipe the polluting technology off of the globe for good.

In spite of this, the city's governing officials still feature Onotek privately in their more distant methods of upkeep through the use of the Thermonuclear powerplants just out of the city. They claim, whenever questioned about it, that these are simply as a backup method and will also provide separate energy to select parts of Amery International when construction is complete, saying ''it's worth keeping such a high risk testing facility separate to the rest of the city's line of power. Magitek might have infinitely renewable energy, but that doesn't mean it's connections can't be severed.''

Everyone in the city has complete access to the Gen 1 magitek (read more on the Technology page) which allows them to make much more intricate pieces of weaponry and technological creations. Magitek television is much higher quality here, and shows only the shows which are broadcasted to the district itself, and radio audio is in higher quality than anywhere in the world. Robotics are the most enhanced they've ever been to modern standards and can be manipulated to make feigned individuals with above average sentience, intelligence and wisdom for their kind.

Order and Leadership

The Neon District is governed and controlled entirely by the Magitek Order, in the form of the separate branch of Mage Ministry which seeks to publicise as much information as possible about the world of Magitek and legalising dark magics. While it is still currently illegal to use most dark magics within the district, the creation and distribution of rifts, portals and portal creating devices is completely legalised under certain circumstances and can be used in self defence or faster travel across, in or out of the city within 100 metres of the city's external borders.

The District officially takes the crown for the overworld city with the lowest crime-rate sitting at 8%, even lower than Neverwinter's 10% which may be considered a surprising statistic to everyone (but of course, in a city where most things are legal, there cannot be no crime unless it's against the queen.) This place governs it's laws a bit differently to every other world location, of which some find to be a questionable practise but most do not question.

The buildings are built with numerous security protocols, with security AI and feigned individuals stationed and patrolling all around the city. In the instance of any kind of threat, the city's AI will retaliate with equal to or greater force of the threat. In the instance of a city threat, it will lock down the entire city and give everyone a window of time to get off the streets and into either their accommodation or another form of open shelter in the hopes of exposing or dissuading the unlawful individual.

Additionally to this, the security feigned are permitted to use any force necessary to keep citizens in line with the laws of the city, all of which both align with the outer world with some custom designed around the technology and makeup of the city itself. Most residents, especially long term, don't dare to oppose this robotic force and keep themselves completely in line. The only place they aren't entirely present is in the lower underground, in the furthest, deepest parts of the marketplace.
