Onotek

Onotek is the name given to the most simple of electrical or miscellaneous appliances found in the world. This includes your basic electronic devices, televisions or computers not powered by magic, and hand powered machines such as the Infuser, Purifier, Alembic and Enchanting Altars.

Onotek tends to be more expensive than Magitek for numerous reasons, the biggest being the ability to actually make the power for these piece of technology. Electrical technology is much rarer in this world, and is usually extremely old, sometimes even recognisable as not even being from this world's time. Some people call it alien technology, and most avoid using it due to these specific discoveries.

Electricity is an extremely rare substance in this world, entirely replaced by infinitely renewable and much more environmentally safe magical energy.

Magitek

The leading form of technology in this world, found in absolutely every and any appliance, Magitek is exactly what the name suggests. Entirely powered by magic in different forms, from raw magical energy to mana water, Magitek is the leading form of technology because of just how renewable it is. Magic can be infinitely sourced and leeched from anywhere in the world, and the energy never runs out because of the constant reproduction of energy, especially in the form of mystical mana water.

It's likely that whatever technology your character has will be a form of Magitek. Everything, even down to televisions, mobile phones and even wrist watches is extremely likely to be Magitek.

Additionally, it's extremely easy to make and requires no advanced technological knowledge to stick together a simple magic powered device. While more advanced creations such as magical weapons or larger pieces of technology do require this knowledge, most people know how to make a simple magical energy leech and insert it into a small case for a quick bit of tech.

Generation 0 | The public rendition of magitek, this can be found everywhere in the world and is public use. Until recently, this was the only rendition of magitek, not completely optimised but useful enough to be preferred over the use of Onotek. Eventually this will be drowned out just like Onotek is.

Generation 1 | The private and newest rendition of Magitek only available to the Magitek Order and The Neon District's residents, it is much more organised, optimised and efficient and its job and is also completely self sustainable. It will become public to the rest of the world when its believed to be developed to a point appropriate to be released.

Vehicles and Transport

Different people use numerous different methods of transport in the modern times: Cars, mounts, portals and wormholes, even the most advanced of hex-trails. Not all methods of transport are entirely technological, and some people prefer to go classic with horseback. Everyone has their own distinctive method of transport thanks to the infinite possibilities.

Every location has a general theme of what transport is used within them. While all forms of transport are present in every location, just like advanced technology is, there is always going to be a preferred method of transport. Some places prefer to go with only animal based mounts, such as Neverwinter and Oya, while others have much more advanced forms of electromagnetic, hexagonal pad based trails and trains, such as the Hallway of Doors.

Anyone can use any method of transport they wish. Hoverboards, cars or motorcycles, animal based mounts or portals and wormholes (with the correct licences.)
