Questing

Quiazal Legacy features several different types of quest which players can host or take part in. Use the definitions below to get a better understanding of them and how they work.

Active signup sheet

Use of this sheet is mandatory for active scenes. Passive scenes do not require this sheet to be used.

When hosting an active questing scene, please have your players fill this sheet out at least a day before the scene begins. This sheet is important for you as a host to track the stats of all of your players within the scene.

As players, you should edit the information on this sheet as time progresses. This helps your host, or the GM, track your stats and keep up with the maths.

A CHARACTER CAN BE IN:

  • One passive scene or passive questing scene

  • Three active scenes of any type

  • One Tower/Dungeon/Bandit Camp

  • One event

  • One owner quest of any type

AT ANY ONE TIME. THIS IS THE LIMIT

Events

The main quest line and the story of the server. These are owner and staff hosted scenes only and are relevant to whatever chapter is active at the time. Each event contains 3-5 events and a branch of quests and side-quests which players can complete to progress the story towards the chapter's climax and shift the world more than they would normally.

Events still follow the 'actions have consequences' policy we have. As such, whatever players do in these events will not just affect them, but everyone around them and more often than not, will affect the entire world.

Quests

Staff and high ranking player hosted scenes which usually attain to a personal or group effort. They are usually one-shots and don't feature any extremely in depth story, though they can be converted into player side-quests for continued story should they wish to.

Upon informing someone of a quest, use the following layout:

```Name of quest```
Details of the quest
[Character] (@[player]), react with [emote] if you accept, or [emote] to decline.
Side Quests
Player (Ember+) hosted quests which revolve around their personal stories or their character stories.
Side quests are advertised scenes, or scenes activated when 3-4+ people converge into one scene together. Side quest hosts can hold them as an active or passive scene. You can find the definitions for these on our Roleplay etiquette page. We have a certain set of guidelines for our hosted side quests, which you can read below.
Side quests are encouraged to be hosted at least once by every player, though are not a requirement. They help to engage the community, help roleplayers find partners and progress, and add flesh to the world of Quiazal. Remember, however, that these should be engaging and fun for everyone and will not centre specifically on you, or someone else, even if you're hosting it around your story.
How do I host a side quest? - First, be sure to check if players of your rank can host a side quest on the Progression page. If you can, follow the steps listed below.
      • Hosting a side quest means creating a following a distinctive storyline which you have created to engage both your players and audience (spectators of the scene.) You should ensure to pre-write and pre-plan all of your story and posts before you host one. If you need help with this, you can look at existing side quests, or scripted side quests, as examples - or, ask one of the staff members to run you through this process.
      • Rewards you can issue can be found at the bottom of the page.
      • If you do not interact with, or are not present often or when needed, within a scene, the host reserves the right to withhold rewards from you or remove you from the scene entirely. This stays the same for all of our questing scenes.
      • Once you have your side quest pre-written and planned, you need to get the information for your scene ready for advertisement. Do this by filling out the layout below. When your side quest is ready to be advertised, place it in the #side-quests channel and ping the @Side Quests role. Do NOT advertise with any other roles, you will get a strike and will be temporarily blacklisted from the quest hosting channels.
      • When advertising, use the following layout:
```Name of quest```

Quest description

- Time Quest will be taking place (Timezone + Hour) and how long it will last. If it's a passive, it will only require the time starting.

- Combat centred or not combat centred (And specify if it's d20 or freeform.)

- Where it's taking place

- React with :emote: if you'll be attending, and ping in #questing-discussion with the characters you'll be bringing. (If they don't need to do this, specify.)

- Any other information (Specify if there's a limited amount of slots. The recommended is 6-8.)

Members joining should always be requested to ping the host with the character's they'll be using for the quest. It confirms attendance and allows the host to see who they're bringing for pre-planning.

Errands

Errands are small one-shot scenes which ANYONE can host and attain entirely to the needs of one particular character. An errand can be anything to do with gathering or completing (Gathering a party, collecting resources, hunting, spying, investigating and exploring and etc.) so long as it's sensible for your groups' and your own level.

Errands can be advertised using the same layout for side quests, except with details as to what needs to be collected. Errands are typically passive scenes rather than active scenes. The same with the side quests, advertise Errands in the #errands channel using the @Errands role.

Keep in mind that only players of Ember+ server rank can deliver rewards.

Battle Towers, Dungeons and Bandit Camps

The hardest of our quests, these scenes are exclusively staff hosted quests which pull in high rewards - at a price. Each battle tower, dungeon and bandit camp is made differently and built around its challengers to ensure the hardest possible experience, a fun but rewarding challenge where the players have to complete puzzles, fight enemies and keep each other safe from the obstacles these places throw at them.

Completing them earns you rewards for that floor, or tier. Each BDB features at least 5 different floors or tiers of difficulty. Completing them earns you gradually increasing rewards until you reach the end, where you obtain the final rewards.

Death in these scenes are separate to death in the real player world. If your character dies in these scenes, they will not be dead, but they will no longer be able to take part in that particular BDB.

Rewards

Refer to the table below to see what rewards you can give at what rank. These are the maximum rewards you can give, but not the set rewards. You may give anything below this.

Key:

✗ = Cannot reward

Can Educate = Can teach if your character knows about it

Can give freely/any = Doesn't have to be in ownership or knowledgeable about it to reward it

Within Reason = Reasonable or simple potions, request staff help if unsure

When Approved = Required staff or ownership approval

On Approval = Requires Ownership approval
