Substances

Viscous wild substances found within the world, typically not made of solid matter. Items made of solid matter can be found in Materials.

Miasma

Type: Volcanic
Habitat: Arson biomes, deep underground, Miasma Grokdruls

Sometimes referred to as Mana magma, Miasma is an unusual type of lava coloured with blues, purples, pinks and sometimes even green hues. This type of lava can only form in specialised parts of the world, sometimes referred to as 'Miasma chunks.' It's unknown why it forms here, but it's also known that magma cannot form where there is Miasma.

Miasma shares the same average temperature as magma and is often oozing with thick magical energy, though it's unclear what type of magical energy it is. When enchanted, Miasma can become a healing substance, which is used in numerous different advanced healing brews. The first it was used in was 'Tears of Space.'

It's also a common component in non electrical or magitekian lava lamps. Miasma extract naturally moves in the same way a magnetic lava lamp does, and as such is a much better, less power consuming alternative.

Essence of Lost Souls

Type: Spirit
Habitat: Undead Swamps

Essence of Lost Souls is an uncommon formation of a deep blue, sometimes even green, water. This water is named as it is due to the common appearances of hands, eyeless faces or other disturbing ghost representations moving around in the water. Additionally, going beneath the surface of the water fills an individual's ears with screams.

In local urban legends, it's believed that these formations are ponds designed to trap any souls who attempt to escape judgement, keeping them caged in under the water to constantly drown in their sorrows as a punishment for wishing to avoid facing the three gods of judgement.

Dark Matter

Type: Cosmic
Habitat: Space, Rifts, Void

Do not be fooled by its beautiful appearance, Dark Matter is a dangerous force, but a necessary one. This is one of the many substances which make up the solid constructs of space and the many different voids, almost like a wireframe of sorts.

It appears to be an unusually viscous, tar like liquid, filled with mirrors of different points in space almost like a wormhole. This substance has been applied numerous time throughout history to pieces of technology intended to allow researchers to see to the farthest reaches, and so far it's proven to have a 100% success rate.

Coming into contact with this substance on the bare skin can cause burning, melting, and in some cases even a reaction similar to corruption where the Dark Matter will begin to branch out and fill every crevice in the individuals body, effectively suffocating them.

Cryowater

Type: Frosted
Habitat: Arctic biomes

An extremely viscous and glittery form of water, Cryowater is a freezing cold, almost icy substance described as having a feeling similar to thick sludge or slime. It's formed when water in an arctic biome only half freezes before beginning to heat up again, churning the water into this thick substance, but this can only occur within Arctic biomes. Attempting to make this substance artificially outside of an arctic biome will not work.

It has many different applications, a lot of them being in beauty products, but can also be used as a coolant or lubricant in vehicles and machines, or even as a glue. When Cryowater is removed from special containment to keep it at its viscous consistency, it will harden and become almost impossible to chip through, but easy to disconnect from whatever it's stuck to.

A popular sport, replacing Ice sculpting around 2000 years ago, is Cryowater sculpting where individuals will race against the hardening cryowater to create a sculpture out of the substance.

Hellfire Acid

Type: Volcanic
Habitat: Arson Biomes, The Everdark

Hellfire Acid is an unusual, burning hot and corrosive acid which forms in natural underground deposits in Arson biomes. This acid is bright red in appearance and constantly releasing steam. Touching this acid burns through the skin almost instantly, though it shows to be incapable of burning through bone.

It's a key component in potions: Thankfully not the kind you drink, but instead a demon summoning potion. The acid corrodes into the ground slightly, which is perfect for allowing the potion to create a space for a demon or familiar to climb through.

Do not fall into a pit of Hellfire Acid. You will not escape.
