Tips for self-typing

Some tips for self-typing I wrote for my friend (if you're reading this: hi!!!), but I thought it would also be great to share them here too (& my friend also insisted on that yeah hehe).

1: extremely obvious fact

Try to identify aspects that you mostly value and prefer using in daily life and how personally confident you are in doing so.

2: identify the position of will (volition)

Since Will/Volition is the most important aspect, I recommend starting with figuring out the position of your Volition.

Not every school of thought uses this method (like BestSocionics directly states that it's bs and that's why I dislike this site), but if you want to stay true to Afanasyev's model of Psychosophy, then the position of Volition affects your worldview and your other functions a lot. More info here.

3: process vs result

Look if you're oriented to Process or Result in a certain aspect.

Process oriented functions (2 & 3) are generally interested in using their aspect for no reason, just for the sake of process alone, and have very detailed and nuanced view of this aspect because of this orientation for process + they naturally drawn to enjoying discussions regarding the aspects.

Result oriented functions (1 & 4) are more rigid in their manifestations, and their actions always have a certain result that works for either for the individual's personal preferences (self-oriented 1st function) or it's being used as means to an end if an external situation calls to do so, but they're not prone to paying attentions this aspect often in daily life (indifferent 4th function). Generally speak in monologues and not prone to discussions that often.

4: importance =/= quality

Just wanted to say that confidence and importance =/= quality.

I saw some people type "dumb" people as 4L, but I personally think that it's a very biased way to type someone, because these "4L" people weren't ambivalent to Logic at all, placed it as an important thing in their life and were pretty confident about their opinions, so they're 100% 1L, it's just that their opinions are kind of bad, but it doesn't make them 4L at all. Not to mention that 4Ls can be smart, I imagine them to be very smart students in Academia, with a good memory for hard facts, but the ones that don't pay attention to the aspect of Logics much outside of that, learning just because they have to (but it says nothing about their general intelligence).

Quote from Afanasyev:

"I would like to insist on this attitude to the Fourth Function, since the confusion between the quality of functioning and the position of the function at the steps of the mental hierarchy is a common mistake in psyche yoga."
