Excelling will look like: Students are engaged in daily interdisciplinary instruction that supports Georgia Standards of Excellence.
“I used the STEM Interdisciplinary Planning Poster to show my students their purpose for learning.”
- Lori Mealer, PLES Teacher
Teachers can use the STEM Planning poster to plan interdisciplinary units. They are posted in the hallway to visibly communicate GSE to stakeholders the opportunities for vertical planning and community partnerships.
This plan was adopted in the winter of the 2023-2024 school year.

Students in Kindergarten improved their building skills in STEM stations in the Learning Log through the use of magnetic tiles, wood blocks, recycled building materials, STEM kits, Lincoln Logs, and LEGOs.
Students in second grade classes made connections to coding and robotics while working with Marty the Robot in the Learning Log.
Students in fifth grade classes made connections to aeronautics and piloting through the Preparing for Flight lessons with the drones from WozEd.
NOTE: As a standard practice PLES does not require lesson plans. Therefore, STEM lessons are planned through teachers' collaborative team discussions.
