With no formal art education, I started watercolor painting after I retired from 38 years in the Boise School District teaching elementary school and working as a curriculum supervisor. My paintings are usually small; the size that fits on a card. I send them off to family and friends for birthdays and other celebrations. I also paint in a 5” x 7” sketchbook. Lately, I’ve been working a little bigger on a 9 x 12 block.
The first time I attended a PAPI paint out was in January of 2024 at Edwards Greenhouse. I’d been a dual member of PAPI and IWS for about a year, but hadn’t screwed up enough courage to join the group even though I live within a stone's throw of the Greenhouse. Mike, Hugh, Sandy, Verna, Twila, Benay, Karen and the other painters who were there that day were so encouraging. I felt so comfortable with them that I was hooked. I’ve painted almost every Wednesday since. Come out and join us sometime, if you haven’t already!
