Each month we will add a challenge to this page, Facebook and our calendar.
Members may choose to participate in the challenge or not.
Participants are encouraged to post their challenge work in our Facebook Group: Plein Air Painters of Idaho- PAPI add #monthlychallenge.
Opportunities to participate in the challenge will be available at events.
Participants will be entered for a drawing for a gift card or prize.
DECEMBER CHALLENGE
“Glitter and Glow”
Make your painting shine this December by using a
metallic paint or ink, glitter or anything shiny.

“Treasured Tools of the Trade”
Ah, the beloved art kit—what treasures do you carry in yours?
Draw or paint your favorite go-to supplies, the ones you’re most thankful to have on hand. Capture them as a playful sketch in your sketchbook or turn them into a finished piece worthy of framing. However you approach it, enjoy celebrating the tools that help bring your creativity to life.

AUGUST CHALLENGE
"Change Up Your Palette"
Step out of your color zone. Change up your palette and use colors that you don’t normally reach for. For example, instead of Alizarin Crimson, choose another cool red, like Quinacridone Rose or maybe just introduce one or two new colors in the mix. Have fun!

JULY'S CHALLENGE
"Travel Plein Air Artwork"

Art Abandonment is where you leave your artwork in a public place for others to find and keep. Place your artwork and the following note in a ziploc bag. MARCH CHALLENGE "March Madness!"

Painting a Horse
Adjusting the tripod and my homemade cigar box pochade to be stable and usable (repeatedly.).
My first two attempts at abstract art.
Casein Paint
I tried pastels on a winter 'landscape'.
I finally got the nerve to sketch people.
Two of my new items are a 5.5 x 8.5 Kilimanjaro watercolor journal and a set of Escoda travel brushes.

I came with my page prepped in red acrylic. And drew with a purple brush marker. And finished painting in Gouache.
