XXVI. Love Letters

As much as York hated to admit it, quite a few tenants had been useful to him in repairing the Boiler. Fell and Alder did lots of exploring. Asami, Rosetta, Sweet Pea, Celeste, Prince, Father, and Sinclair had a chance encounter with the Wolf. Havoc, Marco, and Ignis all had their own issues with a crypt servant. Romy, Cross, Tybalt, and Apollo were almost shot by York trying to avoid a crypt of their own. Lucio, Tim, and Kahu got a bit scared, but pulled through to survive. They kept the beasts busy enough to let him work, and even assisted with his arm when it got frozen halfway through the job. While he still doesn't want to talk to anyone, he begrudgingly admits that it would have taken twice as long without everyone.

Now that York has been settling into talking to people again, although begrudgingly so, you have noticed the biting cold has less of an edge to it. The Boiler seems to be back in order, so it isn’t unbearably freezing, just really cold. With a warm drink and a blanket, you could even trick yourself into getting cozy.

That doesn’t last long however, as you notice lots of noise from the main lobby. Venturing down there, you see everything is decorated with some variation of pink, red, or white, hearts. The front desk has a basket of little paper hearts with messages on them, intended for use as gift tags, and there are rose petals seemingly everywhere scattered on the floor. The smell of rose potpourri fills the air and some incense burns on a nearby table.

What was the occasion? You see people also asking what is up with the decor, and Bliss happens to overhear and skips over merrily. “It’s Joon-woo! He hasn’t visited in such a long time I thought he had died, but he is back!~” She cheered merrily, and proceeded to tell some stories of a cute little pink bird who generally loved Valentines’ Day and anything lovey dovey, so much so that he makes and delivers love letters and plays cupid in his spare time. You couldn’t help but wonder if he was as hyper as Bliss was, and suddenly got curious upon her saying he was very friendly. Perhaps he was worth a visit?

"Annyeong everyone!~ It has been a while hasn't it?~" The Pinkan Wingull giggles and addresses anyone who comes by them with another greeting. Bliss gets a loud personal greeting, as if they knew each other, but it was short-lived since the bird seemed eager to share some things.

"So! I know some of you have been celebrating the new year, but have you thought of what you will be doing for Valentine's Day yet?~" The smug bird grins widely.

"If not I have a special deal for each and every one of you!~ I am very good at making chocolate and writing letters, so I will have some services available to help you bag those baddies or show your love for those already in your lives!~" He jumps for joy before he adds with a mischievous chuckle, "Bliss can deliver any requests you have if you can't find me directly~"

Welcome to the Love Letters event! Everyone loves a letter right?

This event will be active from February 1st to February 28th!

All art submissions must include at least one lined(or lineless) halfbody, with either color or shading, to be counted for the prompt bonuses.

All literature submissions must include at least 750 words to be counted for the prompt bonuses.

Each piece can only complete one prompt!

Make sure to tell us what prompt you are completing in the description of your art or literature so we can reward you correctly!

Prompt A || Sweet Hearts || 50wc

Joon-woo has a basket of chocolates and is handing them out generously. He said he made them himself and each one has a special secret flavor. He also says to be careful, as one batch turned out particularly...bad.

Draw/write your character eating a candy heart from Joon-woo’s basket.

Important Things to Note:

Your character can die here! Please be aware of this!
You can take as many candies as you want and include as many in your drawing as you want, but each drawing counts as one prompt fulfillment.
You cannot buy revival herbs or place revival herbs into your character’s inventory retroactively. Your character must have a revival herb in their inventory at the time of death to save them.

Prompt B || Candy Grams || 25wc + 25exp

Joon-woo is offering the free delivery of “homemade love letters” to your significant other or crush. All you have to do is give him the message you want to convey and he will personalize a letter for you. He tries to make them as romantic and anonymous as possible...but it appears that they aren’t as sweet as they appear to be.

Draw/write your character asking for a delivery or receiving one of Joon-woo’s anonymous letters. The letters use cut up magazine, book, and flyer text to sum up their message, so it ends up looking more like a serial killer’s note than a love letter despite being signed by things like “your one and only” or “the best lover for you”. In hindsight, even that sounds a bit psychotic...

Event Reward || Heart-Shaped Box

By completing at least one prompt during the Love Letters event with a character, that character will be rewarded a surprise gift at the end of the event. Who knows what it will be...
