Current news, events, and outreach page for the PFW Department of Mathematical Sciences

Starting July 2021, the PFW College of Arts and Sciences (COAS) has split into two colleges. The Department of Mathematical Sciences is part of the new College of Science. This may affect degree requirements for future/incoming math majors.

Data Science Week 2021

The third annual Data Science Week took place at Purdue University Fort Wayne online from November 29th to December 3rd 2021.

The Fall 2021 meeting of the Indiana Section of the Mathematical Association of America was held online, Sept. 25.

The Purdue University system has received a grant from the Lilly Endowment to launch the "Indiana Digital Crossroads" data science initiative. Fort Wayne is a regional hub, led by the Department of Mathematical Sciences.

Professor Selvitella and Kathleen Foster, Ball State, have received grant funding as Pilot Project Investigators, for their project, Quantify how morphology and locomotor biomechanics change during growth. This project is supported by the NSF-Simons Center for Quantitative Biology at Northwestern University.
