Addendum 009: 1
SCP-009 functions in a concept I’ve identified as “Strands.” Each time a person interacts with SCP-009, the crystal, they become an individual strand of SCP-009. When they infect others with their infection, that SCP-009 strand continues to spread. However, when another uninfected individual makes contact with SCP-009, an entirely new strand is created. This new strand is not curable using the cures manufactured from the first strand and vice versa. This would allow SCP-009 to scale in difficulty to contain based on the number of interactions with the base crystal. To provide an example of how this would work, Imagine CD-1 interacts with SCP-009. They have now been infected with Strand- A of the SCP-009 virus, if they walk up to CD-2 and interact with them CD-2 is now infected with Strand-A. If a vial is collected from CD-2 and turned into a cure, this vial can cure both CD-1 and CD-2 because they have the same Strand of SCP-009. However, if CD-3 touches the crystal on their own, They are now infected with Strand-B and cannot be cured by any cure using Strand-A, only from Strand-B SCP-009 instances.
Addendum 009: 2
SCP-009 has three confirmed variants, described below. Each infected individual is assigned a variant upon creation, with some being more rare than others. These variants have different abilities and roles to help spread the SCP-009 infection.
Speedy Variant: Faster than other variants. Color is a lighter shade of red, with some orange tones. Theorized to sacrifice health and damage in turn for speed.
Tanky Variant: Slower than other variants Color is a dark red, with a dark clear sample Likely possess more health and slightly higher damage at the cost of speed.
Flaming Variant: Medium Speed Orange in color, with particles resembling flames following behind. Believed to have higher damage output in exchange for mediocre speed and health.
