Habitat Mapping

Habitat Mapping of Indian Gaur (Bos gaurus)

I am working with Sudeep KC, a final year B. Sc Forestry student from the Institute of Forestry, Tribhuvan University, Nepal to map the habitat of Indian Gaur. The habitat of vulnerable Gaur ranges from Indian subcontinent to as far north as Nepal and east throughout mainland Southeast Asia. Its habitat in Nepal is mostly confined in Chitwan National Park-Parsa Wildlife Reserve corridor. Sudeep is working to obtain the habitat uses data by field based plots study and preparing habitat suitability map using Maxent modeling approach. This project is part of Sudeep undergraduate thesis work and funded by National Trust for Nature Conservation-Biodiversity Conservation Center, Chitwan, Nepal.
