Langtang

Langtang National Park

Langtang was the first high mountain national park I have visited. I made trip to the park very first time for collecting tree-ring core samples for my master thesis with my friends Raju Bista, Ravindra Pandey, and Shiva Pokharel in 2006. It was the first time we were trekking above 3000 m, so we were very conscious about the altitude sickness. We were not aware about the altitude sickness medicine such as Dimax at that time therefore we took garlic and baked corn powder (Satu) with us. Garlic and Satu are believed to be cure of altitude sickness. I have very good memories from this trip – got chance to see the sub-alpine forest very first time, hiked above 3000 m, and many more. After this trip, I have been to Langtang five times and most of my trips were along Gosaikunda trekking route.
