In groups, create your own number patterns using interlocking cubes to build sequences of shapes. You will communicate your groups understanding on a piece of A3 paper (diagrams, design, working, explanation)
For your sequence, complete the following:
1) Table
2) Rule: Write a mathematical rule (using the language of Algebra) that relates the shape number to the number of blocks used.
3) Create a graph of the relationships
4) How many blocks would the 10th shape need? The 100th? The 1000th??
Extension) Using the same shape, repeat steps 1 to 4 for surface area of the shape.
