Learning Intention: CL4: Use rules to describe linear relationships found in number or spatial patterns
Diagnostic:
Explanation:
A function is a relation between a set of inputs and a set of outputs with an equation that relates each input exactly to one output.
Example:
Factory = Blue squares (F = B)
Factory = 4 x Red Squares + 2 (F = 4R+2)
Factory = 5 x Total Squares + 2 (F = 5T+2)
1) Basic functions - play with this interactive. Start with 'Patterns', then go on with 'Numbers'. What does a function do?
2) Go to IXL and use the language of Algebra to work out each function. Draw a set of axes and graph at least two of the functions (3 co-ordinate pairs for each function machine)
