OA Code aims to nurture a love and passion of computer science in students of all ages by providing educational opportunities and career activities that extend beyond the traditional scope of a high school computer science curriculum. Such opportunities include lessons, projects, competitions, and events through weekly meetings and a partnership with Hack Club. Our learning outcomes are targeted towards algorithmic thinking, artificial intelligence knowledge, ethical hacking experience, and the holistic development of self/community through fulfilling and impactful projects.
Description: Members of OA Code will engage in lessons and interactive activities during general meetings to learn about various concepts in the tech field. Our first few meetings will focus on building up general members' basic Python skills, which will then be applied to various small projects, activities, and competitions. Our big project for the year is our long-awaited club website! Members will have the opportunity to contribute ideas and help build the website, leaving a legacy that will last for years to come.
Beyond developing the essential skills of aspiring computer scientists, we aim to build a community here at Oxford, placing a strong focus on interaction and engagement between members during club meetings (sometimes, we'll even have free pizza). We will also have a community discord, where members can ask questions, talk to other members, discuss the latest club project, solve the weekly coding challenge, and more!
Grades: All grades are welcome!
Meeting day/time: Thursdays during Lunch
Meeting location: Mr. Wai (Room 306)
