Take the two 3-part hymns and the 4-part hymn you have learned up to this point, along with your organ hymn arrangement, if you have chosen one to learn, and prepare a prelude line-up of music that could be used for a sacrament meeting according to the following instructions:

• For each of your 3-part hymns, play a total of two verses using SOLO and ACCOMPANIMENT registration. Follow these steps:

  • Verse 1: Play with both hands on the accompaniment manual. Use an appropriate prelude-chorus-type registration.

  • Verse 2: Move the melody to the solo manual, using a solo stop or combination. Accompany with the other hand on the accompaniment manual.

• For your 4-part hymn, play a total of two verses using two contrasting chorus-style registrations. Follow these steps:

  • Verse 1: Play with both hands on a single manual using a chorus-type registration suitable for a prelude or postlude.

  • Verse 2: Create contrast by either:

    • Changing the registration on the same manual, or

    • Moving both hands to a different manual that has a different chorus-type registration.

    • Choose combinations that provide clear contrast while maintaining the overall character of a prelude or postlude.
