About: The GI is located on the Ground floor of the Physician’s Terrace/Maternity Pavilion Building and right next to OPD. The GI Lab provides health scholars with the unique opportunity to see a variety of procedures by way of monitor. GI Lab offers an array of procedures, the staff help diagnose and monitor a variety of diseases and conditions, including bladder and urinary problems and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Learn about the digestive tract by viewing esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD), Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), colonoscopy, and different levels of sedation and anesthesia. Health scholars will have the opportunity to prepare patients for gastrointestinal procedures, and follow-up treatment in a close-knit, interpersonal environment.

About: The OR Department at Valley Hospital is located on the first floor, behind the main elevators. The department is composed of: Preoperative/Postoperative Outpatient Surgery (Room 121), Main Operating Room and the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (Recovery). The types of health care professionals that you may encounter while in the OR Department include but are not limited to: general surgeons, specialty surgeons, OR Registered Nurses, Surgical Techs, Surgical Aids, Radiologists, Radiology Techs, anesthesiologist, anesthesiology techs, among others. Health Scholars assigned to the floor are tasked with: observing procedures, assisting with OR suite turn-over and shadowing staff members.
