About: Deaconess Hospital Family Birth Center Services includes the following services: Childbirth Services, Maternal Fetal Medicine, Labor and Delivery, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and the Mother-Baby Unit. For security reasons, all women’s services are locked units that require admittance with a camera and phone-in request at the door. Wearing your Health Care scholar badge at all times helps staff know you are authorized to be present and help on the floors. More specific information can be found below.
Valley Hospital's Birthing Center is much smaller compared to the one at Deaconess Hospital. The unit consists of about 10 rooms each about three times the size of a typical hospital room. This allows birthing mothers to feel more comfortable and allows extra room for more support staff upwards of 3-4 RNs, 1 CNA, 1-2 OB/GYN, and 1 pediatrician. Larger rooms also help cater towards better care for two patients in the room at a time, mother and baby. This floor is also locked at all times to ensure the protection of the mother and baby making it crucial to have your badge on you.
