The COPE program, a clinical experience program (similar to a hospital volunteering program), is partnered with the Keck Graduate Institute (KGI), a member of the Claremont Colleges. KGI created our training material to provide our scholars with a larger scope of practice than a typical hospital volunteer. Our students receive an initial 30 hours of training, during which they learn the basics of U.S. healthcare and perform hands-on tasks, such as taking patient vital signs. A Health Scholar can independently take vitals, round on patients, assist staff in walking a fall risk patient, reposition, and transfer patients to perform a couple of tasks. KGI's material enables Health Scholars to gain hands-on clinical experience in various specialties while interacting with all levels of medical staff in a hospital setting. Upon program completion, Health Scholars will receive a certificate of completion from the KGI programs in Health Policy and Management.
Students come from all over Washington, Idaho, and even Montana to join our pre-health professional development program!
