12 Days of Techmas
AI Edition - Day 7
Image Generators
On the seventh day of Techmas, I am really excited to share a few of my favorite Image Generators with you. These are ones that you can use as a teacher or that you can even use with your students.
Today I will be looking at three AI Image Generators: Canva, Padlet and Adobe Express. All three of these tools are available for you to use as well as your students to use.
**Remember to check the age restictions/guidelines in the Terms of Service
for all tools before using with students**
Prompt Writing for Image Creation
Before we can look at AI Image Generators, we need to discuss prompt writing for creating images. Your prompt will matter when it comes to how close the image is to what you see in your head. The more specific you are, the better. If you want it to look like a painting, say that. If you want it to have a person standing on a particular side of the image, you need to say that.
Using Classlink to Access Canva and Adobe Express
Did you know that Canva and Adobe have built in AI Image Generators! If you are a teacher or student in DCS, remember you must log into Classlink to access both of these tools.

Using Padlet's AI Image Generator
You can create a board on Padlet for students to respond to a prompt. One of the options they have when using the prompt is the "I can't draw" option which is an AI Image Generator.
One activity that we did with an English class is they had been reading the Great Gatsby and had drawn a picture of a specific scene in the book. The students were asked to describe their drawing with the hopes they used enough description in their prompt to get an image close to the picture they drew. This was great practice for prompt writing and for some took multiple tries to the image they wanted.
Another activity was with a Spanish II Class. They were practicing their vocabulary and we had them enter their prompts in spanish into the image generator. The students had to practice enter their prompts so that the image results were what they were expecting. It was great to see students revamping prompts and thinking through their vocabulary.
Here is a Prompt to help get started with Padlet
(or any AI Image Generator)

Want to earn CEUs for participating in this year's 12 Days of Techmas? It is easy!
Each day there will be a task to complete based on the tool for that day. Complete the Form below and share your completed task. At the end of the 12 Days of Techmas you will receive a certificate for the days you participated in. If you complete all 12 tasks you can earn 3 hours of renewal credit.
Your Day 7 task is to pick one of these three AI Image Generators. You will use that tool to create an image.
To get credit for today's task, create a document and add the image that you created from one of these tools (this can be downloaded or a screenshot). In your document add the prompt that you used to create the image. Describe how well the image came out compared to your prompt, did it come out like you envisioned? Could you have adjusted the prompt? Or did you adjust the prompt? How could this be useful for you as a teacher or useful for students?
To submit your Day 7 task, complete the 12 Days of Techmas CEU Form
Don't have time to work on today's task? That's okay! You can work on these throughout the holiday break and January.
