12 Days of Techmas
Day 10
Creating Digital
Business Cards
On the tenth day of Techmas, Ms. D shared how to make digital business cards so you always have your info to share in the palm of your hand.
Ever been in a meeting, at a conference, or out and about and needed to quickly share your info with someone and didn't have a business card?
This summer, I was sitting in the Charlotte airport headed to the NFPA Conference in Boston and realized that I didn't pack any business cards!! EEK! Here I was headed to a BIG conference, presenting a session and being awarded NFPA Educator of the Year, and I didn't have a way to share my contact info. I knew people would be asking me for my contact info....so I needed a quick fix that wasn't going to cost me money and that I could literally do on the 'fly."
I ended up deciding to AppSmash a few of my favorite tools to create a quick Digital Business Card that I save to my phone! This was a game-changer! Now when someone asks for my business card or contact info, all I have to do is pull out my phone and I have this image saved to my favorites. I can also drop it in my presentations.
What is a Virtual Business Card?
Creating Your VCard
A VCard is a “Virtual Contact File” that includes information that you want to share with people.
So think anything you want on a print business card….you can put on a VCard!
How do you create a VCard? You will need to use a QR Code Generator (there are lots out there)
Here are a few options:
How it works? When someone scans the QR code with your vCard it will ask if they would like to add your information to their contacts and Ta-Da! There you are so they know how best to reach you. It can be an email address, school phone number, etc.

Getting Your Virtual Business Card to Your Phone
There are a few ways that you can get your Virtual Business Card to your phone:
Email yourself the image and open it on the email app on your phone. From there save the image to your camera roll.
Drop the image in your Google Drive and open the Google Drive App on your phone. Then save the image to your camera roll.
Use the Canva app to create the Virtual Business Card and when you save the image out of the app it will be in your camera roll
TIP From Ms. D!!! Save the image to your favorites so you can easily access it when you need it!
