12 Days of Techmas
Day 3
Page Marker (Chrome Extension)
On this third day of Techmas, I am sharing a cool tool for drawing on websites.
Ever needed to make a note of a website you have pulled up on your browser.
Imagine teaching a class and you have a website pulled up on your browser and you want to make notes or highlight something on the screen OR you are projecting on your promethean board/interactive board and have a document up that you are explaining to the class and want to mark on it quickly....well this Chrome Extension is for you! And this works too even for those of you that do not have an interactive board and are just using your computer and a projector. You can write on your screen with the mouse!
Page Marker allows you to write on any screen that pops up in your browser. I have used this when teaching research to model for students how to take notes on what they are reading, highlight key points and to help evaluate websites. This allows me to quickly on the "fly" make notations, when I may not have thought about building a slide deck in my Interactive Software.
There are sooooooo many possibilities with this free tool!
quickly demonstrate a math problem on document that you have pulled up in the browser from Canvas
sketching out stories making plans,
collaborating on projects
have students come up and label a diagram on the screen
interacting with a primary source and making notations and writing their thoughts on the document or image
and sooooo much more!!!
This can be used with the mouse on your computer or even the pen on your interactive board or your finger on the interactive board. All you do is open the extension and pick which tool you want to use! Check out the video explaination and examples below!
The easy to use toolbar pops up and allows you to write, highlight, erase, toggle back to your curser, add text, move things you wrote and more!
I also LOVE that it allows me to SAVE what I have done! This is a game changer when I am making notes that students will need later!
You can make notations on anything you can pull up in a browser!
Check Out Ms. D's Quick Tutorial on how Page Marker Works!
Add the Page Marker Extension from the Google Chrome Store - Page Marker
Open the extension from the top right of your Chrome browser - it may be under the puzzle piece
Pick your Tool and away you go!!! Now you can draw, highlight and type on your broswer window. Remember if you need to move the page, click the curser. You can bounch back and forth.
