12 Days of Techmas
Day 12
Google Arts and Culture
On the twelfth day of Techmas, Ms. D shared a treasure trove of resources from over 2000 museums! Art, Virtual Field Trips, 360° Videos, Games, and more!!!
We are finishing up the 12 Days of Techmas with an awesome tool from Google that many do not know exists or if you do, you may not have seen some of the awesome things that have been added lately.
This resource is available through the website and as an app.
Google Arts and Culture
https://artsandculture.google.com/explore
Under the "Explore" tab and you can search Experiments, Art Exhibits, 360° videos, Historic Events, Historical Figures and so much more.
You can search by location, time, color, collections, etc.
There are resources here for so many subjects.
I love being able to search collections, these have been so helpful when building lessons and activities for research with classes. There are images, links to videos (ex: YouTube), and more.
https://artsandculture.google.com/partner
Under the menu on the left side of the screen, there is a "collections' option. This will allow you to view all the partners participating. It is amazing to see all the museums around the world.
You can search at the top of the screen and you can also look at a map of all the locations.
Learn with Google Arts and Culture
https://artsandculture.google.com/project/learn
There is a whole area for lesson ideas, pre-built collections, and activities.
Need inspiration for lessons? In all subject areas? Check out the Learn with Google Arts and Culture page
Other Cool Things to Check Out!
https://artsandculture.google.com/play
Check out some of the fun activities and games under the "play" area of the website. These are great brain breaks. From music to pottery to VR to puzzles and more!
Do you like Guitar Hero? Check out Blob Beats!
https://artsandculture.google.com/project/expeditions
Do you remember Google Expeditions? When that program was discontinued, the field trips were moved to Google Arts and Culture and are still available to use in class.
Want to see an example: Check out the Virtual Field Trip to Machu Pichu
Want to earn CEUs for participating in this year's 12 Days of Techmas? It is easy!
Each day there will be a task to complete based on the tool for that day. Complete the Form below and share your completed task. At the end of the 12 Days of Techmas you will receive a certificate for the days you participated in. You have the chance to earn up to 3 hours of Technology credit.
Visit the Google Arts and Culture website.
Explore and find something you could use in your class or that you find interesting.
Today we are going to use a tool from Day 9 to submit your artifact. When you find something during your explorations that you think would be fun to use with a class, grab the QR Code from the Chrome browser for that page. Submit that QR Code to the CEU form. Not sure how to grab the QR Code from your Chrome browser? Check out the Day 9 post.
To submit your Day 12 task, complete the 12 Days of Techmas CEU Form
Don't have time to work on today's task? That's okay! You can work on these throughout the holiday break and January.
I want to say a HUGE Thank You to everyone that has joined me for the 12 Days of Techmas! If you enjoyed it, please check out some of the posts on my Virtual PD page. I am thinking about doing some more "bite-sized" PD options similar to the 12 Days of Techmas in the Spring - kind of like a "Choose Your Own PD" menu. Let me know what you think, ideas of things you would like to see, or suggestions on ways to improve by completing the 12 Days of Techmas PD survey form. Your feedback helps me make PD sessions better and tailored to what you are wanting and needing.
