MCT Shortterms

Minecraft Tribes Shortterms is a spin off series, deviating from the normal Minecraft Tribes longterm series. Instead of pre-planned and extensively prepared games taking place over several sessions, MCT Shortterms takes a rather informal approach to hosting. Instead of being hosted by Pentolach alone, other dedicated hosts will set up seasons so that games are hosted quite frequently within the community. Additionally, the number of hosts allow for much more creative freedom in incorporating various twists and themes to the game, adding to the unique experience felt during each season.

Contestants in this game will be stranded in the harsh Minecraft wilderness and must survive not only the elements, but also each other for as long as they can! They will compete in challenges as tribes and later on as individuals in order to stay safe in the competition, as losers will be vulnerable to a vote at the dreaded elimination ceremony. They must make sure to find any way possible not to receive a majority of the votes during these times or else they will be eliminated from the game. The remaining players at the very end of the game will face the jury. This group of previously eliminated players will vote for the winner on account of what they feel is most deserving of the win. The finalist with the most amount of jury votes will win the game!

Rulebook

Minecraft Tribes Shortterm games are played very similarly to traditional Minecraft Tribes seasons, albeit with a few changes made to maximize player enjoyment and efficient hosting. Contestants are expected to follow such rules or may be subject to a variety of punishments, such as in-game penalties and setbacks, or potentially as serious as removal from the game. The decision whether or how severely to punish someone for breaking the rules is entirely up to the current host's call.

Pre-Game

  • Players are responsible for reading all rules before participating in a season. The host assumes that all all contestants who hop into a season have read the rules before the season begins and are aware not to break them as the season takes place.
  • Players are responsible for their actions in-game. The host is not liable for any immature behavior, which is problematic to the season, from the contestants.

Competition

  • Players are not to demand compensation for unfair circumstances during the course of the game, although they are of course allowed to complain.
  • Contestants will initially be separated into two tribes based on various methods of division. They will stay on such tribe until they are voted out, have reached the merged phase of the game or some other circumstance. Players are not to demand to be switched onto another tribe due to preference.
  • While at camp, players will be in survival mode and may use resources from and around their camp for fun or for strategic reasons. Building is also permitted.
  • Keep inventory will be kept on for the duration of the season, alongside peaceful difficulty.
  • Due to the speed of the competition, no "confessionals" will take place.

Challenges

  • Contestants are expected to actively compete in both mental and physical challenges for immunity. There is simply not enough time nor necessity for reward challenges, although the host may incorporate rewards which don't include resources needed for the survival part of the game (such as clues to idols, spectating losers' elimination ceremonies, etc) alongside immunity for challenges. Players must be at the challenge location during the full length of such challenge, even in the case of sitting out from a challenge.
  • All instructions of any challenge are expected to be fully obeyed. Failure to comply with the rules may result in disqualification of that player from such challenge, forfeiture of that player's tribe from victory in such challenge, or potentially more serious punishments.
  • The host has the sole jurisdiction to make calls in a challenge and deem various matters associated with the challenge.
  • Assisting fellow competitors in individual challenges is strictly forbidden.
  • A tribe is allowed to forfeit a challenge, as long as the decision to forfeit is unanimous among every tribe member.
    • This is different from throwing a challenge, in which any member can choose to as the challenge is ongoing if they wish.

Elimination Ceremony

  • Similarly to challenges, contestants of the tribe which lost the most recent Immunity Challenge are expected to be present at the following Elimination Ceremony in order to vote out a fellow member of their own tribe.
  • A contestant is allowed to vote against themselves, however they are not allowed to vote for those who are at the time immune from receiving votes. Doing so will result in the player being instructed to redo the vote they originally put down.

Inactivity/Leaving the Game Prematurely

  • Being a shortterm game, there is no commitment to showing up like in the longterm seasons. If a player is inactive for a long period of time, they will not be disqualified; instead they shall remain in the game for however long they are not voted out.
  • If a player cannot or does not want to continue playing and needs to leave, they must notify the host of their choice to exit the season. They may choose someone they want to sacrifice (also known as "sacc") their spot in the game to if online in the server. If they do not care which player takes their place, then the spot goes to the player who has been waiting the longest to play in the server.
    • If there is no one currently in the server, the host may give announcement to players that there is an open spot in the season. After 10 minutes if that spot isn't filled in, there will be no replacement for the contestant who left the season.

Jury and Jury Votes

  • After a certain amount of time in the season (up to the host's discretion) once eliminated, a player will become a jury member, where they will get the chance to vote for the winner of the season.
  • There are two options which can occur from here:
    • If such a player wants to leave the server for the rest of the game, because at this point the finalists are not yet determined, they must send a "votelist" to the host in the order for which of the remaining contestants they most wish to see win. (Player listed first being the most preferred, player listed last being the least preferred)
    • If the eliminated player wishes to stay until the end of the game, they can be given spectator mode until the finale to spectate the future events, as long as they follow the rules and do not interfere with the game (i.e. whispering to contestants, revealing location of idols/advantages, etc.)
  • At the finale, the jurors who remain are given the right to ask questions or comment to the finalists, within a 3 minute time frame. They are expected to respectfully listen to the speeches of the finalists, but ultimately the vote is theirs to decide. Jurors will vote for the player they feel deserve to win the game the most.
  • While on the jury, a player cannot "sacc" to another player.

Hosting

  • It is suggested to acknowledge the fact that different hosts will have different hosting styles. This means that some hosts might include out-of-the-box twists and themes, which might annoy certain players, while other hosts may want to keep things simple. Hosts are permitted and encouraged to try out unorthodox twists if they wish.
  • If a player finds a season to be "rigged", a host to be biased for or against players, or has any additional complaints about how a particular game is run, please respectfully report the issue in Pentolach's DMs. Complaints that are meant as jokes or are made out in a disrespectful manner will not be taken seriously.
