Minecraft Tribes

(series)

Minecraft Tribes is a competitive social and strategic game made in Minecraft, similar to the CBS reality game show, Survivor. Instead of 16-20 contestants however, there is usually only 7-10 players. Contestants must build a camp, supply themselves with materials and resources and protect themselves from the elements of the Minecraft wilderness. They also must compete in challenges, for rewards such as diamonds, tools and potions, and immunity from getting voted into elimination from the game.

In the first season the voted player would be nominated to take part in a "Vortex Jump". If that player did not complete the vortex jump, a free-fall from a high platform in which they must fall through three large hoops and survive by landing in a pool of shallow water, they are eliminated from the competition. The nominated contestant could attempt this 3 times without being eliminated. The format of elimination was changed in the second due to popular demand. Instead of participating in a vortex jump, the voted player spins an online wheel to determine their fate, with various options which would impose minor twists onto the game. Most of the time, they'd be eliminated, but there was a chance for the eliminated contestant to join back into the game. During the third season, "Redemption Island" was added, giving the eliminated player a second chance to come back into the game, where they must duel against other eliminated players in various small challenges in order to guarantee their safety and return to the competition. For the first time in the series, players in Minecraft Tribes IV had no twist or additional feature in the game to give them a possible shot to return back into the game once voted out, although one player was able to return back into the game due to circumstantial matters in the game. When a player is voted out, their fate in the competition in final. In Minecraft Tribes V, players eliminated in the first 3 days would assemble to form the "Gurbata tribe", taking part in a challenge on Day 4 for their spot back in the game, and one player from that tribe was indeed able to return to the game in time for the merge.

Once everyone in the competition is eliminated but two, the remaining players "mourn" the dead competitors by a "rite of passage" ceremony on "Memory Lane", where the "souls" of the eliminated competitors reside. Then, the power switches from the players to the "dead" competitors, whereas they will select one player of the two remaining finalists to be the winner of the competition on account of the finalists' actions in the game, and deserval to win. The finalist with the most votes from the "Tribal Jury" wins Minecraft Tribes.

Rulebook

Below is a set of rules for the general game of Minecraft Tribes. Contestants are expected to follow such rules or may be subject to a variety of punishments, such as in-game penalties and setbacks, or potentially as serious as removal from the game.

Pre-Game

  • Players are responsible for reading all rules before participating in a season. The host assumes that all all contestants have read the rules before the season begins and are aware not to break them as the season takes place.
  • Players are responsible for their actions in-game. The host is not liable for any immature behavior, which is problematic to the season, from the contestants.

Competition

  • Once in the competition, players are responsible for being present during play times scheduled in advance. Only in the case of an announcement in advance of absence for a certain period of time would this rule is allowed to be stretched. If a player decides to be inactive for multiple sessions, the host has the right under their call to disqualify such a player from the competition.
  • Players are not to demand compensation for unfair circumstances during the course of the game, although they are of course allowed to complain.
  • Contestants will initially be separated into two tribes based on various methods of division. They will stay on such tribe until they are voted out, have reached the merged phase of the game or some other circumstance. Players are not to demand to be switched onto another tribe due to preference.
  • At the beginning of every round (or end in some circumstances) players will be involved in either Direct Message chats with the host or will be given Book and Quills for the purpose of "confessionals" in which a player can express opinions or inner thoughts they may not want to reveal to other players. Giving such information is not required by contestants but it is suggested that players respond to them for the purpose of detailed information being safely intact for the Wiki after the season.
  • Raids of camps are allowed for each tribe once per elimination round. If such a tribe wishes to start raiding, they must notify the host, prompting a timer to be set for a certain duration of minutes and once the countdown starts, they may begin to venture out from their camp and find the rival tribe's camp. At the time's halfway mark, the tribe to be raided will be notified about the impending attack and will have the remaining time to prepare for their arrival and defend from attacks. Both tribes are allowed to kill each other during raids. The raiding tribe is allowed to destroy and grief the rival camp until the allotted time is over.

Challenges

  • Contestants are expected to actively compete in both mental and physical challenges for both rewards and immunity. They must be at the challenge location during the full length of such challenge, even in the case of sitting out from a challenge.
  • All instructions of any challenge are expected to be fully obeyed. Failure to comply with the rules may result in disqualification of that player from such challenge, forfeiture of that player's tribe from victory in such challenge, or potentially more serious punishments.
  • The host has the sole jurisdiction to make calls in a challenge and deem various matters associated with the challenge.
  • Assisting fellow competitors in individual challenges is strictly forbidden.
  • A tribe is allowed to forfeit a challenge, as long as the decision to forfeit is unanimous among every tribe member.
    • This is different from throwing a challenge, in which any member can choose to as the challenge is ongoing if they wish.

Elimination Ceremony

  • Similarly to challenges, contestants of the tribe which lost the most recent Immunity Challenge are expected to be present at the following Elimination Ceremony in order to vote out a fellow member of their own tribe.
  • A contestant is allowed to vote against themselves, however they are not allowed to vote for those who are at the time immune from receiving votes. Doing so will result in the player being instructed to redo the vote they originally put down.
  • Once eliminated, it is required for a player to come back during the finale to fulfill the duties of a jury member. Not doing so may result in a player not being allowed to play for another season or future event.

Post-Game

  • A reunion will take place right after a winner is crowned to recap and reminisce about the events and award notable achievements and players. Participation is strongly encouraged but not mandatory.
  • Players are also strongly encouraged but not forced to participate in responding to the "Post-Season Wiki Discussion" questions in the Discord. More detailed responses give more information to be put on the Wiki and creates a more accurate record of the season's legacy for the future.

List of Seasons

[ ]: Since there was a 2 - 2 tie, it was agreed upon that the host would decide the winner of the season by casting a vote of his own.

List of Tribes

Note: Tribes are listed on the table in the order of their appearance in their respective season.

Raid Charts

During the pre-merge, many tribes have attempted to raid the rival tribe in order to gain momentum over the other tribe and greaten their chances of success. Below is a table of all the raids which have been declared in Minecraft Tribes history:

º = In the first season, raids were not allowed. This "raid" was a result of Team Light winning the first Reward Challenge. Team Light's reward was to be granted the ability to come to Team Night's camp and steal one item which they deemed most valuable to the other tribe.

The success rating was determined by various criteria. Three categories are judged; finding the whereabouts of the rival camp, destroying the camp, and looting items from chests. The rating is identified from how many of such factors are completed in a raid. 0/3 criteria done equals a "Very Unsuccessful" rating all the way to 3/3 criteria equaling a "Very Successful" rank. Below is a line of ratings for camp raids:

[Very Unsuccessful] ➡ [Unsuccessful] ➡ [Successful] ➡ [Very Successful]
