Pre-Season

    In preparation for season, official applications were sent out in order to choose a new cast of participants. Applications were released on March 1st, 2020, hours after the finale of Minecraft Tribes VI and they were closed on April 24th. In contrast to previous seasons, applications were only open to players who had competed in a previous season of Minecraft Tribes. There were a total of 20 applications submitted.

    The cast was announced on April 27th, along with personal bios for describing each contestant's player history and legacy on their respective season(s). The season began after weeks of preparation on May 17th.

Twists

Tribe Camps

• One at a time, alternating tribemates would jump into the ocean and dive down to the bottom to open a chest containing a wool block of their respective tribe's color. Once a tribemate has that block of wool, they would emerge from the depths of the ocean and swim back to shore where they would have to step onto their tribe's mat for the next tribemate to continue. There was a block of wool in each chest, and there were 6 chests on a tribe's side of the ocean, so each time someone went into the water, they would have to swim further into the ocean to retrieve their wool block. Once a tribe has the 6 wool blocks, everyone on that tribe is allowed to then swim out to their tribe's buoy to build a structure out of the wool blocks on top of that buoy. The first tribe to have 3 members of their tribe on top of the tower of wool they've built would win the first reward of the season, a set of iron tools.

• Certain players from Season 1 already had history with this challenge. For _DiamondPierce_ and Sonato, this was a chance to win the challenge a second time, having previously been victorious on Team Light. For MedgeSZ, this was a chance for redemption as he had previously lost this challenge on Team Night.

• Players would race from their mats to a series of red sand pits. Digging through those pits, they would search for lettered blocks in chests buried underneath the sand. Once they have the sufficient number of blocks from the mud, they would climb a giant acacia wood tower and retrieve the next set of blocks from each of its floors. Next, they would mine through a cave full of mossy cobblestone to find the last set of lettered blocks. As soon as they collect all 17 blocks in total, the players would hand over their blocks to two designated puzzle solvers, who would have to solve a puzzle by arranging the collected lettered blocks onto item frames to decript a phrase (being "RIDE INTO THE SUNSET"). The first tribe to correctly solve the word puzzle would win immunity.

• Certain players from Season 4 already had history with this challenge. For Carlisle54321, this was a chance to win the challenge a second time, having previously been victorious on Halaiso. For mariobros717 and Earthythegamer, this was a chance for redemption as they had previously lost this challenge on Kabadar.

• From a large chunk of sand in the desert, players would have to dig as much sand as they could. Using that sand they must craft what they obtained into sandstone. Players would then work together as a tribe by using the crafted sandstone as a bridge to get to each wooden pillar on their tribe's side of the course. No other building material was allowed to be used. On each pillar towards a route away from the route they are supposed to take was a chest containing a enchanted diamond shovel, with pillars farther in distance having shovels with better efficiency enchants, allowing for faster digging speed. This creates the dilemma where competitors must choose how much time they were to spend either digging sand in order to have the necessary resources, or rather building with sandstone in order to dig faster with the shovels. The first tribe to have all of its members reach the finish pillar at the end and break the banner on top would win reward.

• Certain players from Season 6 already had history with this challenge. For JivJiv2001, this was a chance to win the challenge a second time, having previously been victorious on Gorllewin. For DerpyChoco52 and Kashingg, this was a chance for redemption as they had previously lost this challenge on Dwyrain. Although he was still participating in the season at the time that the challenge first occurred, oZerro was on Redemption Island and so this was the first time he was to witness this challenge.

• The players would be read aloud a mythological story about the region in which they inhabited during this game. Below is the entirety of the story:

"Do you all remember the town which you raided for supplies? It didn’t just spring up by itself. Long ago this prosperous settlement was established in this very desert by a group of pioneers. The leader of this group went by the name of Colonel Chicken and became the first Sheriff. Under his leadership the town built a general store, a bank, 3 courthouses and a few inns. If you lived here you were most likely one of three things, a gambler who’d wake up at 10:00am to play cards with a gun under the table, a beggar who’d wake up at high noon to ask for change, or a merchant who’d wake up at 3:00pm to sell their wares. Being settled at the middle of a long frontier trade route, this settlement naturally attracted many folk from afar to rest and relax after a long day of traveling and additionally to trade with fellow locals. One of these fellows was not actually in the trading business but rather the business of crime. His name was Deadeye Hopp. At 86 years of age, he didn’t have much pep in his step but sure was dangerous in his wit and deceit. Even with advanced age his vision was as clear as a bat, if it had eye surgery to fix its blindness. Most of all he could shoot a pistol better than anyone else in the region. When people heard of his arrival to this settlement they ran with fear. Meanwhile, Sheriff Colonel Chicken was getting tired of leading a place with unclean water and handed over leadership to his buddy, the Duke of Burger. Instead of normal sheriff duties this new guy made the order to set up a bunch of saloons so that he would have nice locations to play cards with the local gamblers. He would gamble all day until the saloons closed one by one. Regardless the civilians respected him for being one with the people. Suddenly with a kick of the saloon doors, none other than Deadeye Hopp asked where the sheriff of this town was. The Duke of Burger replied and told the strange fellow that he was in fact the one in charge. Immediately he was threatened that if he didn’t give his sheriff’s badge to him, making him the third sheriff, he would ruin the town through means too horrifying to describe. The townsfolk rallied behind the Duke of Burger and some even urged him to duel the old chap, but instead, he tossed his badge right to him as if he was tossing a nickel to buy a soda. He was tired of his rule and just wanted to gamble. Under new leadership, the townsfolk panicked. Most inhabitants were quite young, not a person was over 30 except for the new sheriff, so they didn’t have much life savings in the bank and thus feared that any changes to the laws would prove financially burdensome. Deadeye Hopp let his group of fellow frontier gangs and criminals reside in the town, scaring the people with their bulging eyes and crooked noses. The townspeople had finally had enough and fled the town in different directions. The gamblers went westward, the beggars went northward, and the merchants went eastward. Only Deadeye Hopp and his group of criminals remained and so they trashed the place. After they had their fun, there was no use for the town anymore and so they too abandoned the settlement, leaving it in the same condition it was when you all rediscovered it."

• Tribes were supposed to remember as many details of the story as they could. Once told to go, everyone would rush out into the cave in front of them and spread out into 6 different paths, each of which led to a question about the story told. There were three potential answers for each question, each of which were represented by a specific item. Players needed to take the items which corresponded to the correct answer and bring them to a room in which they would place them onto an item frame. Once a tribe thinks that they gathered all the right items from the various rooms in the cave, they would ask to be checked. If wrong however, the tribe would need to fix the array of items, removing the incorrect items and replacing them with the correct items. The first tribe to correctly bring the correct items from all five questions pertaining to the story would win immunity.

• Certain players from Season 3 already had history with this challenge. For _DiamondPierce_ and Sonato, this was a chance for redemption as they had previously lost this challenge on Muohta. Although he was still participating in the season at the time that the challenge first occurred, MedgeSZ was on Redemption Island and so this was the first time he was to witness this challenge.
