Keys for the identification of British Tipulidae

The Tipulidae are a large family in the British fauna and include 327 species. They include the conspicuous and well-known daddy long-legs and the other crane-flies. The handbook by the Royal Entomological Society was published in 1950 and remained the standard volume to consult for the British fauna for decades. This can be downloaded here: http://www.royensoc.co.uk/sites/default/files/Vol09_Part02_1_Tipulidae.pdf.

Alan Stubbs began to publish a number of guides in the 1990s and he has more recently worked with John Kramer. These are now published on the Catalogue of the Craneflies of the World website (https://ccw.naturalis.nl). Select the literature tab and search on Stubbs in the author box and 2016 in the date box.
