My aim is to produce guides for the identification of insects which can be used by non-specialists. I began my interest in insects about thirty years ago and found that literature was all over the place so I began to gather it together, digitise it and then adapt it by illustrating the terms and adopting a particular format. My coverage of the beetles is now nearing completion and I am working on other orders of insects.

I've been delighted with the way that other entomologists have sent me comments and this has resulted in refining the keys, All the keys are supposed to be working documents and I really enjoy editing them in the light of my own research and that of others. I've been excited to receive messages from people in a number of other countries too, particularly from some where access to academic texts has been difficult.
