Key for the identification of British Kateretidae

The nine British species of this family belong to three genera. Two of them are very common on the flowers of nettles and several others are frequently encountered. They are very small species and will require a good stereomicroscope to identify as in the first couplet you are being asked to find a tooth at the base of the claws. If you have good equipment and lighting, the key below should separate them. The family has been treated in various ways in the past but is closely related to Nitidulidae
