High Performance Computing Remote Access
The High Performance Computing lab is one of the first of a series "eSpace Engineering, Innovation and Experience" learning facilities being developed by ASU's engineering schools. The lab is located at the
Engineering Center, Room G-150, open Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
In order to extend the availability of the software, Engineering majors may remotely access the
Linux machines after 5:00pm Monday through Friday and on weekends.
From Unix/Linux:
If the system you're using is UNIX / Linux based then you can remotely access the ECG 150 machines using the built in SSH client. Otherwise you will need to download a secure shell program like PuTTY for windows (see below).
Syntax for ssh: `ssh -X ASURITE@enxxxxxxx.dhcp.asu.edu`
Where ASURITE is your ASURITE ID and enxxxxxxx is the hostname of the machine. If you're
having trouble identifying the hostname of the machine please see the attending student worker.
From Windows:
Windows does not have an SSH client, we recommend a client like PuTTY
PuTTY SSH Client: http://www.putty.org
After launching Putty it will ask for the hostname or address of the remote machine you wish to
Connect to ASURITE@enxxxxxxx.dhcp.asu.edu.
At that point putty will prompt you for your user name and password to login.

To use ANSYSworkbench or Fluent on Saguaro:
for using workbench on saguaro. I was successful at opening it up and you can open fluent straight from there!
AnsysFluent - Ansys 12.1 Fluent
AnsysWorkbench - Ansys 12.1 Workbench runwb2
I typed use -l (to see all the available programs on Saguaro)
The command says: use ansysworkbench, then I typed runwb2
I used Xforwading with Xming (not hummingbird) on and it did not come up.

The Linux Operating Systems is available for remote access, the STAR CCM+ software installations, to one Linux Operating System.
Starting December 22nd, you will be able to remotely access STAR CCM+ on one machine in G150.
We have installed the STAR CCM+ on hostname: en4067803.dhcp.asu.edu
http://hpc.asu.edu/help
http://hpc.asu.edu/faq
Using Remote Desktop Connection:
en4057070379.dhcp.asu.edu
en4010803
If far away like at home:
you will be unable to remote in from off campus unless you are using the ASU VPN service.
If you wish to download the VPN client you can at sslvpn.asu.edu It should guide you through the installation.

If on linux:
ssh login with X-forwarding:
ssh -X mjthomp3@saguaro.fulton.asu.edu
qsub -X -I -lnodes=1 -lwalltime=00:15:00
use ansysfluent
use ansysworkbench
fluent
to check jobs and job id
qstat -a
to stop jobs:
qdel jobid#
IF on Windows:
get hummingbird exceed
configure SSH with x11 tunneling
and need to configure hummingbird with passive mode (recommended)
qsub -X -I -lnodes=1 -lwalltime=00:15:00
use ansysfluent
use ansysworkbench
fluent
To view a listing of computers on the network:
go to command prompt
type cmd
then net view
Seeing your desktop with a lot of programs running
the quick command is:
windows key + D
Logging into 379:

2) 4057070379__mines
If logging into ECG 150 computers
first ssh into saguaro with
ssh -X asuriteid@saguaro.fulton.asu.edu
then
ssh -X asuriteid@en4056210.dhcp.asu.edu
should work. you cant login directly into the pc, you must be within the asu network to be able to login. Look at attachment.
We do have Ansys CFD available after hours remotely in the ECG150 High Performance lab. It is available on the Linux OS. After 5:00pm and on weekends, you would be able to ssh into the machines. `ssh -X ASURITE@enxxxxxxx.dhcp.asu.edu
` The command is launcher121 Here are the machine names: en4056210.dhcp.asu.edu en4056211.dhcp.asu.edu

Saguaro now has three login nodes:
saguaro1.fulton.asu.edu
saguaro2.fulton.asu.edu
saguaro3.fulton.asu.edu
Connecting to saguaro.fulton.asu.edu will connect you to
one of the three login nodes in a round robin fashion.
Please email support@hpchelp.asu.edu any time with questions or problems.
