Workspace Management: Isolate project environments by department, client, or team unit.
Structured WBS Hierarchy: Organize work down to three levels: Project β Task β Subtask.
Progress Weightage Allocation: Assign weight percentage (%) to tasks and subtasks for automated S-Curve calculations.
Flexible Task Tracking: Manage timelines, priorities, assignees, and task status in real time.
1.Selecting or Creating a Workspace:

Click the Workspace menu on the left sidebar and select Select Workspace.
Choose your target active workspace from the list.
(Admins only) To create a new workspace: Go to Workspace β Create Project & Team, define the workspace name, and assign initial workspace managers.

2.Creating a New Project:
Navigate to Projects β Create Project.
Fill in the essential project parameters:
Project Name & Code: Unique title and identifier (e.g., PRJ-2026-001).
Project Owner / PM: Assign the primary responsible project manager.
Planned Schedule: Select the baseline Start Date and Target End Date.
Project Description & Scope: Outline key deliverables and goals.
Click Save & Initialize Project.

3.Building the Work Breakdown Structure (Tasks):
Open your project and navigate to the Tasks tab (or go to Tasks β Create Task).
Click + Add Task to define Level-1 WBS items.
Input task details:
Task Name: Clear, actionable deliverable description.
Assignee: Select team member responsible.
Dates: Start and Due Date.
Weightage (%): Assign the task's weight relative to the overall project (must total 100% across project tasks).
Priority: Low, Medium, High, or Critical.
Click Save Task.

4.Creating Subtasks (Level-2 WBS):
For granular tracking, break parent tasks into subtasks:
Open the parent task from your task list.
Go to Workspace β Select Workspace β Task & Subtask (or click + Add Subtask within the task detail drawer).
Enter subtask name, assign team member, define due date, and allocate a sub-weightage (% of parent task).
Click Create Subtask.

5.Updating Progress & Completing Work:
Assigned team members can open their assigned tasks/subtasks from the Dashboard or Workspace.
Update the Status (Not Started, In Progress, Pending Review, Completed).
Enter the % Complete (e.g., 50%).
Add progress notes or attach site photos/files if required.
Click Update. The updated completion percentage will automatically recalculate project progress on the S-Curve Chart.

π‘ The 100% Rule: Ensure that the sum of all task weightages equals 100% of the project total, and subtask weightages equal 100% of their parent task. This guarantees accurate S-Curve progress reporting.
π‘ Keep Subtasks Measurable: Subtasks should represent short, concrete actions (e.g., 1 to 5 days effort). Avoid creating overly deep subtask trees beyond Level-2 to keep workflow tracking clean and intuitive.
Q1: Can I move a task from one project to another?
A: Yes. System Admins and Project Managers can edit the task options and re-assign the target project from the Task Settings menu.
Q2: How does completing a subtask affect the parent task?
A: Lynx PMIS automatically aggregates subtask completion percentages based on their assigned sub-weightages to update the parent task's overall progress automatically.
