Track baseline project progress, measure actual performance, and identify schedule variances in real time using the S-Curve Analysis tool in Lynx PMIS.
The S-Curve Analysis module provides a visual representation of cumulative progress over time. By comparing your Planned Progress (Baseline) against your Actual Progress (Executed Work), project managers and stakeholders can instantly detect whether a project is ahead of schedule, lagging behind, or on track.
Baseline Tracking: Measure actual work against original planned timelines.
Variance Detection: Identify delays early before they impact project delivery.
Custom Timeframes: Filter analysis by weekly, monthly, or quarterly increments.
Exportable Reports: Download S-Curve charts for executive presentations and site progress reports.
Visualizes project progress over time comparing Planned Cumulative Progress, Actual Cumulative Progress, and Forecasted Completion.
How to Interpret
🟢 Actual line above Planned line — Ahead of schedule
🔴 Actual line below Planned line — Behind schedule
🟠 Flattening Actual line — Stalled progress (red flag)
🎯 Why This Chart Is Useful: Tracks schedule performance visually, forecasts completion dates, highlights early warning signs of delays.
Visualizes cumulative project spending over time, comparing Planned Budget, Actual Expenditure, and Forecasted Total Cost.
How to Interpret
🟢 Actual line below Planned line — Under budget (may indicate delayed work)
🔴 Actual line above Planned line — Over budget
🟠 Flat Actual line while Planned rises — Stalled spending (paused work or bottlenecks)
🎯 Why This Chart Is Useful: Tracks budget adherence visually, forecasts final project cost, highlights early signs of overruns.

🔴 Planned Progress (Baseline Curve): Represents the cumulative planned weightage (% complete) mapped across the project timeline.
🔵 Actual Progress (Executed Curve): Represents the actual physical percentage of work verified and completed to date.
🟡 Financial / Earned Value (Optional): Displays cumulative cost vs. budget allocation.
4.Analyze Schedule Variance:
Hover your cursor over any data point along the timeline to reveal the Status Tooltip:
Ahead of Schedule: If the Actual Line is above the Planned Line.
Behind Schedule (Delay): If the Actual Line is below the Planned Line.
Schedule Variance (SV): $SV = \text{Actual \% Complete} - \text{Planned \% Complete}$
⚠️ Warning Threshold: If your actual progress falls more than 5% below planned progress, Lynx PMIS will flag the data point in red to indicate critical schedule slippage.
5.Exporting & Sharing the Report:
To share the S-Curve report during progress meetings:
Click the Export button in the upper-right corner of the chart panel.
Choose your preferred output format:

💡 Keep Task Progress Updated: The S-Curve relies directly on subtask and task completion weightages. Ensure team leads submit daily/weekly task updates so the actual curve reflects real-world progress.
💡 Re-baselining Projects: If a formal Extension of Time (EOT) or major scope change is approved by the client, contact your System Admin to update the Approved Baseline. Lynx PMIS allows you to overlay Baseline 1 vs. Revised Baseline 2 for historical tracking.
Q1: Why is my Actual Progress line flat or not updating?
A: Actual progress only updates when tasks marked as "Completed" or "Partially Completed" have approved weightages. Check that task managers have submitted progress updates in the Tasks / Workspace module.
Q2: Can I compare multiple projects on a single S-Curve chart?
A: Yes! In the filter panel, enable Multi-Project Overlay mode to view up to 3 projects simultaneously on a single baseline scale.
