Start playing with your new and approved character!
Check out the [Submission Rules & Activities] to find out how to play!
The [Tasks] page can get you started with broad prompts to help you develop your character and earn copper!
Also check the [Current State of Affairs] to see if there are any active events going on! Remember, your character will at least need the ID Papers prompt completed to participate!
All MYOs must have their own theming style, a word that the character is associated with, like "Cake" or "Boa Constrictor". Every subspecies has their own acceptable themes, so pay attention when picking a theme and subspecies as they must match!
For example the theme "Cake" works for a Fodamotti, but not Animotti since that one is for animals. If the theme you want doesn't fit with any of the current subspecies, don't worry. New subspecies may be discovered sooner than you think!
The [Motti Species Page] shows the currently available subspecies, if they're not available for MYOs it will be noted there!
Themes are not first come first serve, multiple characters can share the same Theme title. If you want a dozen "Cupcake" themed Motti you can make that happen. Do your best to be unique in your design and not copy others. Accidents happen, if we are made aware of too similar designs, we may ask you to make some changes.
There is no current way to change your Theme or Subspecies, so be sure of your choice before submitting for approval. Theme possibilities are nearly endless, however we will not accept every Theme. To view our stance on Allowed VS Not Allowed Themes, check the expanded [Theme Guideline Page].
The guide above covers Derogatory Terms and Slurs, Sexuality and Gender, Adult Content and Themes, Copyrighted or Trademarked Content, and Alcohol / Drug Based Themes.
But we hear your concerns. What if you want an all white character and someone else also has an all white character? In the examples below, the staff members Pickleweasel360, Aquisedragon and Balkeir have created triplets with the theme Marshmallow. These characters will match in color palettes starting out. Let's see how we can make them unique despite this!
If Pickle, Aquise and Balkeir submitted the characters above (full body of course), then they would be denied by Staff. There is no easy way for Staff to identify individual characters. Let's fix that!
Now we're getting somewhere! This is a good step in the right direction. Each character has subtle features that make them a little different from one another. Unfortunately this is not enough! The ears, pupils and snout can be narrowed down to a stylistic preference. We need to make them more unique and easily identifiable for Staff!
These would be approved if they were submitted. Each Motti, while sharing a similar color scheme, have identifiable differences. The hairstyles and furstyles are all unique, each of them have differing scars and accessories, and even varying body types!
With their accessories removed, even with the same color scheme, these three characters still remain easily distinguishable for mods. This is an example of appropriate differences despite having similar color schemes and themes.
You are allowed to create matching characters with friends, but all parties must agree at the time of submission that you are ok with this. Understand if the characters get traded away or you have a falling out, Staff will not force the old group or new owners to modify the design at all. You accept this risk when creating matching characters with other players! Storywise, you are not forced to keep any character bonds you do not want.
Anatomy, Colors, and Variation
In this section we'll be referencing the Motti Species Page again. There are some key anatomy details on a Motti that must be consistent across the species as a whole. There are also unique traits per subspecies like the antenna! These unique traits must be present and accurate on your MYO approval image.
Antenna shape and texture
- Each Motti subspecies has a unique antenna
- Antenna cannot be fully hidden by clothing
- Any colors can be used
Nose shape and nostril details
- Motti have a short, somewhat rabbit like snout
- A philtrum line connects the nose to the mouth
- Motti have 4 nostrils (or to be specific, spiracles)
Eyes, Tongue, and Innards (Flesh)
- Can be any color, but the color must match in all these locations
- Heterochromic eyes are not allowed except on the Dyamotti subspecies
- Pupils may be symbols, but each eye must have the same symbol unless they are the Dyamotti subspecies
- Using a paler version of the eye color to represent blindness is allowed
Colors & Markings
You are free to use any colors and markings for your character. These do not have to match your Theme choice. You could make a "Black Widow Spider" Motti, but have the colors be neon pink and yellow if you wanted to. Tattoo's can also be added for even more customization.
Fur & Hair Styling
Fur and Hair may be styled as you wish. Length and Style may be changed as you see fit. To change the body covering to something like wool, scales, feathers, or make them hairless, you will need a Morph.
Clothing & Accessories
Characters may wear any type of clothing or accessories they wish, or none at all! Motti are an Anthroid, bipedal species with no reproductive organs so wearing clothing for them is a form of expression rather than hiding anatomy. Hats, glasses, canes, bags, etc can all be added or removed as you see fit.
Tools & Weapons
Your character may be shown holding a tool or weapon in their approval art, but this doesn't give them a free version of our official tools and weapons. The character will still need to purchase/earn those to be official.
Please Note: Missing limbs, blindness or deafness, or other heavy injuries will affect stat block rolls in raids, dungeons and expeditions. This does not change their innate stat block.
Scars and Injuries
Lucerna can be a rough and unforgiving place, as such, scars and grievous injuries are possible. Your character may have scars, amputated limbs, blindness or deafness, and/or basic prosthetics. You may also have them suffer from long term chronic illnesses.
Note: Only Arthramotti and Arthra Dyads can regenerate limbs naturally. This takes place over a few months. Arthra Dyads can summon or hide one or both pairs of arms at any time.
Any other Motti Subspecies shown with an amputated limb will need a Limb Morph if you plan on showing them with the limb regrown. You are allowed to show Flashbacks to a time when they still had the limb, but using this to get around needing the Limb Morph is frowned upon.
Prosthetics
Characters can be shown with simply engineered prosthetics. Wood and Leather with metal hinges or fasteners are the most common option at this time. Cypress Springs is cut off from the world and metal is a precious resource, so it is usually allocated for tools and weapons instead.
All prosthetics are considered clothing and can be changed out at will the same way.
You are free to ask questions about any prosthetic limb viability in the question-box channel of our discord!
How To Submit
You are free to share WIPs of your design in our Art-Share channel or in the Question-Box if you want to have a mod take a look to check something. Once ready to go, please paste your MYO Art Image (or link if from another site) into the MYO Approvals Channel of our Discord. There will be a small form to fill out to list your subspecies, theme, listing any items you have used on the character such as Morph Potions, as well as giving your permission for your art to be used on the Masterlist.
If there are slight adjustments to be made, a thread will be made as a reply to you and additional details given to you on what needs to be changed. You can then post them again in the MYO Approvals Channel when fixed to continue the approval process.
MYO art must be :
Drawn by you
Either digital or traditional artwork
Fully Colored
One Full body only, no other headshots or other pieces
Does not need to be transparent
Once your character is approved you're ready to go! The [Submission Rules & Activities] is a good place to start next in order to check out the current [Tasks] we have available! Art used for your approval image can be used for the [ID Papers Prompt] if you'd like!
