ARPG - Art Role-Playing Game
ARPGs can take on many forms, but most commonly, they are story-telling games that take place through various online platforms, where a community of people can both play the game and contribute to stories by submitting art pieces! This can be in the form of visual art, written works, physical crafts, and more - it varies depending on the ARPG’s rules.
CS - Closed Species
In this case, a ‘species’ refers to an imaginary creature for use in an ARPG. A ‘closed species’ simply means that you aren’t free to make your own character of that species, whenever you want. Some ARPGs and species owners give permission for people to create characters for their species, under certain circumstances, or a limited number of times.
Adopt
An ‘adopt’ is short for ‘adoptable character’. This is a pre-designed character that someone else is selling, trading, or giving away.
MYO - Make-Your-Own
This is a character that you design yourself, within the guidelines for that species.
Custom
You can commission someone else to design your character for you!
Base
A ‘base’ is an artwork that the artist allows to be edited by other people. For example, we have several free-to-use Motti bases - you can download the image, and edit them to look like your own Motti! Make sure if you use other people’s bases, you give proper credit when posting your image!
How do I know what currency I have?
All player inventories can be found here.
How is inventory tracking done?
Group staff are responsible for tracking player inventories at this time. We’re working on a Lorekeeper site, which will eventually handle it all for us!
Are themes unique? Can there be two Motti with the same theme?
Themes are not unique, and yes two characters may have the same theme as long as the designs don't 100% match one another.
I don’t have a digital tablet. Can I still participate with traditional artwork?
Yes!
I’m not good at art, will my drawings still be counted? :(
We accept art and artists of all skill levels!
What is Essentia?
Essentia is a weekly resource used in many different activities. More to come 👀
Do I HAVE to make an account somewhere special, to participate in the ARPG?
We only require you to have a Discord account in order to play the game, as the majority of our game will take place through our Discord server. Eventually we will require players to have an account on our Lorekeeper website, once it is published.
When prompts have ‘additional reward requirements’ do you have to do ALL the additional requirements for the extra rewards?
Yes, if you want to receive the extra rewards, then all extra requirements must be met. If collabing with another partner, all collaborators must meet the additional requirements for anyone to recieve bonus rewards.
I found a typo/error! Where can I report it? :O
Thank you! Please submit any errors or typos to the Question Box channel of our discord, and ping any of the staff!
Can I make my own NPCs, to help fill out my character’s backstory?
Yes! Personal NPCs are free to make, but they will not be allowed to earn rewards or currency or to be used in official activities.
Is there a group mascot?
Yes, his name is Zemi!
How do I obtain a MYO slot?
All new players automatically receive 2 MYO slots upon joining the Discord server and filling out the intro form! Additionally, each year, all players receive another 2 MYO anniversary slots! You may pick the subspecies from those currently discovered unless otherwise stated.
How do I obtain more characters?
At this time, the only way to obtain more characters is through official sales, buying/trading from other players, and events.
Can two characters complete the same task at the same time, in the same image?
Yes, as long as each character performs actions related to the task. The only exception to this is ID Papers; only 1 character per submission is allowed for that prompt.
I have a lore question!
The best place to find the answer is our Question Box channel on Discord! You can use the search function to see if others have asked, and post your lore-based questions there!
What colors can my Motti be?
Motti can come in any shade/hue/color!
Nymphs, the juvenile form of Motti, may only use white, yellow, green, brown or black and their antenna must be blue. Their eyes may be black or blue.
Do I have to use an EXACT shade of a color on my character?
No, we allow for a little leeway with colors, as long as it’s not drastically different!
Do MYOs start as a Nymph, or an adult?
You may make your MYO whatever age you’d like. Keep in mind though that there are stricter color requirements for Nymphs (any combination of white, green, and/or yellow), and they may not be allowed to participate in all activities. They’re only babies, after all!
Are we allowed to share our MYOs before they are finished and accepted?
Yes, you can share your WIPs in our Discord’s art channel!
Can I give my character a disability?
Yes, you may! Be aware that disabilities affecting sight, sound, and movement will affect rolls and mechanics requiring these things. Examples may include discoveries, search and rescue missions, dungeons, and raids.
Is there a minimum/maximum size I can make my character?
Motti can range from 80cm to 150cm tall, without the Magnitudinemorph vial. With the Magnitudinemorph vial, they can range from 10cm to 500cm tall.
I want to change my Motti’s hairstyle!
Go right ahead! Styling of their fur (both hair and body fur) is common in Motti culture. They often cut, shave, and style their fur in fun ways! Changing colors is not a free action however, and requires a Somadyemorph Vial.
