Xynnar is the real elven capital of the world but they encourage people to think that Trion Ma is so as to discourage foreign visitors. This is an elf-haven steeped in magic, folklore and history. The city from the ground looks like a small trading post set in a tiny clearing, it is only when you look up that you see the expanse of the urbanisation.
At first glance it looks like the trees are filled with stars, but as your eyes adjust to the thick canopy above the extent of elven architecture is apparent. Spiral stairways have been grown into trees at grown level, wending up to flying buttresses of wood that soar to dizzying heights. Walkways of wood and stone create a dynamic, criss-cross pattern pattern of construction, like a spider’s web spun from the trees themselves. There is a stately bustle across the artificial canopy, with lanterns swinging in the light breeze. The busiest area is taken up by a monumental structure that swoops and climbs to unimaginable heights strung between countless trees on more levels than you can see – this is the legendary University. Drifting down from all around you comes a curious chorus – light and melancholy. At ground level there is a basic community presence, but the real magic is up in the trees beyond the city.
Population: Approximately 21000; primarily elf, some half-elf but not many. There is one dragonborn arcanist here (Liza Stronghand – she is a specialist in arcane ingredients and enchantments).
Import/export: imports livestock, magic components, history/knowledge and exports knowledge, timber, poisons/potions, training, artisan materials.
Religion/s: Mostly Sylvanus and Aldiran are worshipped here, though most Gods have some kind of small following somewhere in the city. Adiria has a specific monk sect that follow her and teach midwifery at the University.
Language: Elvish is the most common language, although some ancients are spoken, alongside hand language and Rosetongue (the Assassin's language).
Ruled by King Edbyr Vystra, ruler for 300 years from the regal Vystra family appointed by Sylvanus himself. Vystra has also appointed an Arboretum for himself, a council of guild members that grow as the city does, making sure that everyone has someone who speaks on their behalf where possible. They also hold an Open Court once every moon cycle to discuss public matters, and anyone can attend.
The Pavilion of Whispers: A two-storey half-timbered theatre, known for its avant-garde necromantic comedies.
There is a permanent song to Sylvanus echoing around the city, both in worship and supplication for new life to be born. The song is called the Ellisanis and it is sung by the Order of Adiria, a group of monks that follow in the practise of midwifery.
The university here is the most advanced in the world.
