Overlooked by a series of hills, this highly contested city controls the river flowing into Caradhys and is the main water source down to Chalior. It is a rich and fertile land and is the perfect place for livestock, cloth, wool, and dyes to be made and perfected here. It is the highest producer of wool and cloth and is in demand from the world over. Magic is allowed here, but heavily restricted. There is an underground operation trying to rescue halflings from Chalior.
On the border between town and city, Swordbreak is a mismatch of different era housing, new builds and fortified houses due to its turbulent past. There are big factories on the outskirts of the city where the majority of the lower class population lives and works, while the inner city seems to be the dwelling of artisans, aristocrats, and businessmen looking to make their money from the dyes made and sold here. It is a sprawling urban establishment, loosely grouped around a gigantic indoor market hall. The whole atmosphere of the city is tense but welcoming and you’d be forgiven for thinking a festival was underway due to the garish banners and loud colours of the houses that proclaim the main trade here.
Population: Approximately 5000; mixed elf and human.
Import/Export: IMPORT: timber, wine, luxury goods. EXPORT: wool, cloth, dyes, agricultural produce.
Language: Mix of Common and Elvish. In an attempt to be as inclusive as possible, the city has adopted a bilingual clause in its laws to allow shopowners and residences to advertise in both languages.
Religion: This is a highly contested point between the two countries, so a multi-faith centre has been built in the centre of the city, and no other shrines or temples are allowed. Magic is allowed, but restricted.
City is controlled jointly by Javan and Caradhys (not entirely peacefully but it’s an attempt to reinforce the peace treaty that was signed between elves and humans in the Uprising). There are two people in charge in the same Manor House: an elf noblewoman named Melissa Prathos and a human female named Alice Langothryn.
Mayatahay's Masonry: The workshop of a female elf stonemason named Mayatahay, known for her secret and concealed doors.
A stone obelisk dedicated tot hose who lost their life before the Treaty of Swordbreak was signed
Directly across from that, a statue of a human and elf shaking hands dominates the corner.
A spire of hewn stone, placed to mark the Battle of Cruel Spells.
The Guildhall: A grand stone-walled building, decorated with finely carved friezes. It contains a large meeting hall and several smaller rooms, and is shared amongst several local trade guilds.
The Crossed Candles: A fanciful elven inn
