Collaborative Research Unit Assignment
AASL Standards 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 3.3; NH Competencies 1a, 1b, 1c, 1d, 1e, 1g, 3a
Applying the tenets of inquiry-based learning (AASL, Lamb and Fontichiaro), the “backward design” model of Understanding by Design (Wiggins), and the collaborative planning process (Donham, Chapter 6), use the template provided in Moodle to outline a research unit you might teach in collaboration with a grade level or subject area teacher. Use the sample units in Moodle and/or lesson plans found at the ReadWriteThink and Library of Congress Teacher Resources websites to help with this assignment. A successful unit should strive to be at a level 9 or 10 on “Loertscher’s taxonomy of involvement” (see pages 120 - 124 in Donham), demonstrate an application of the above listed tenets, and address the specifications in the template.
