IMPORTANT INFORMATION
A few questions in recent night notes came up about which pages get sent to first/second/direct. Here's a breakdown:
Nation/World shared mod - first proof
Weather - first proof (unless it's an EE night for 3-day pubs)
PDF obit (full page, no editorial) - first proof
Shared opinion - second proof
Shared opinion with local substitutes - first proof
Shared content - second proof
Shared content with any editorial content - first proof
Shared market page - first proof
Partial/full class we place - second proof (add link to RPM notes)
Retail full - direct output single
Panorama - combine pages on a spread, direct output spread
Spadia - remove folio, send to second
There are obviously a few exceptions to the rules for special sites like BUF, so reach out to a team lead or senior with any questions.
360 pages - please read all info for recent updates
Pages with a check are good to place and should be sent as soon as possible (do not wait for the whole section to be made ready). If you have a deadline after 4:30 p.m. CT please hold for the late Nation/World module on Page 3.
Reminders:
Be aware of any ads when placing the section. Sometimes, ads in this section will make cover refers invalid which require rearranging of content. If you come across this and have any questions, contact the 360 designer.
All pages get sent to second proof.
Check your preflight status for errors before sending pages.
Make sure all pages are marked as shared in RPM.
Check your deadlines - this section sometimes deadlines before the local section.
Parent sites are: CDP/ONG/HDR/NPT/CAS/HEL/WOO/LNG/LAC TRIB/WAC/BAR
If you are working on a parent site you must remove all section letters from the section flag, jumps, billboards, page folios and refers.

QCT JRNL/ MDA DARG/ QCT TMES- No longer should be using the clone and move tool.
When doing the E-edition checks on the live segmentation sites (listed farther down page), we will be deleting duplicate shared content from the O pages to help prevent redundancy.
Everyone will do a runthrough to check for duplicates regardless of what section you have or if someone else already has done so once.
Be mindful to only delete O pages and not from the live sections.
If you delete the wrong thing, don't worry, Ed's instructions show you how to fix it. Otherwise, ask a team lead.

Communication Guidelines & Tips for Posting in the Customer Service - LDC Channel
EVERY POST SHOULD INCLUDE:
SITE CODE
PUB CODE
PUB DATE
SECTION LETTER
PAGE NUMBER
Deadline optional but helpful
MISSING AD POSTS SHOULD INCLUDE:
SITE CODE
PUB CODE
PUB DATE
SECTION LETTER
PAGE NUMBER
Deadline optional but helpful
THE AD NUMBER- Please copy paste this and do not screenshot.
BUFFALO: All Buffalo related issues, missing content etc should be posted in the Buffalo Production - LDC channel
EMOJIS
Ditto Emojis are welcome to eliminate repetitive information in the channel.
THREADS
Keep site issues separated in threads only pertaining to that particular site to avoid confusion. Each page, partial, ad or general question for every publication/page/date must be a a new post/thread.
STUCK PAGES
Do not send pages multiple times if they're not showing plate previews in RPM. This could result in sending multiple plates to the press. Post in the CS channel and ask if the page can be confirmed in NewsWayX.
TAGS
Please do not tag departments in cs posts. Leave it to the CS team to determine who needs to be looped in.
EMOJIS
Don’t use the eyeball or checkmark emojis on posts in the cs channel. These are used by the CS team to indicate their members are addressing the issue.
THREADS
Do not post issues about other publications in a thread for another site.
For a consistent report in night notes and a professional look with signatures please follow the instructions to set up your outlook.
Instructions include how to do so in old and new Microsoft Outlook.
Updated links to resources such as the snippet request form are included in the Night Note template example on page 2
SEGMENTATION CONTINUES
If you design one of these sites, you will be responsible for checking that e-edition.

Sites that can use clone and move within each group:
GROUP 1-wiscnews.com:
BAR/PTG/BDM
GROUP 2- lacrossetribune.com:
LAC WINO/LAC CHIP/LAC TRIB
If something doesn’t clone and move properly just follow the copy paste method below for the piece that does not move and please document the issue so we can look into it.
Clone and move cannot be used between sites that do not share a domain.
This does not mean you cannot share content. You can still copy and paste content from one domain to the next but you must check and do a few things.
Once pasted into the 2nd domain, release all assets.
Create new ones.
Stories that jump will cut off where they jump when copy and pasting so make sure to get the full story after you move it to the 2nd domain.
Jumps always need to be rethreaded.
Some pubs that share content and not a domain are KEN/RAC/DEC/BLM/MAT
When you have a design center segmented site
You are responsible for checking/fixing your entire section.
If you are assigned A1, you will do the whole A section despite content type.
If you are assigned sports and that is B1-4 in an 8 page section, you will check the entire B section.
Once you verify all pages are accounted for and segmented properly, you should sound off in the #general channel's 2pm daily post or to @designleads.
Deadlines take priority but make sure your ee check is accounted for if you run into trouble.
If you have any questions or run into trouble talk to a team lead for advice or post in #customerservice
What your focus should be: Please continue to practice combined live jumps, creating article assets and making sure all stories and merged items aside of agate are live on pages before proofing them out. This includes doing so for the sites that are not live yet with the exception of weeklies and TUC.
This usually mean the element type is incorrect, but not always.
In InDesign make sure the asset is released.
Go to BLOX- file handling- select placeholder- this clears the slate/history of the element types to start fresh.
Go to Blox- element type- select main story
Then you can create the article asset and resend to page tracker.
Obit photos aren't showing up when checking segments
In BLOX, double click the page you want and hit the segments tab.
Click the assets, one at a time for the obituaries missing art.
Click the related tab then Add- Find assets
Select Image type and in the search bar type the full name of the obituary person
Find the correct art, select it and hit add selected asset.
Save and close the asset and move onto the next one.
Once all obits are attached, save and close the page, hit view, refresh the preview and verify the correct photos are with each obit segment when you click on it.
Practice now, benefits you later
Brush up on segmentation practices using our videos and one sheets on the designer website. Do this on a lower volume day TU/TH/SA/SU and never during deadline or at the expense of deadlines.
You will go back to checking your E-editions so this will only keep you from having to fix a bunch of stuff when segmentation continues.
