Leslee Fisher’s journey from “Baby Girl _________” to university professor and the search for her biological family gives her a unique mind/body/spirit perspective. Born a preemie and then adopted by Bob and Marian Fisher of Lansing, Michigan, she is passionate about making the connection between lived experiences of resilience and how those experiences shape a life.
As a tween, Leslee and Bob fought for her to become the first female acolyte and crucifer in the Episcopal Church in the state of Michigan. After obtaining degrees from the University of Michigan, University of California at Berkeley, and University of Virginia, she enjoyed a 30-year career as a professor of applied sport psychology (22 years at the University of Tennessee - Go Lady Vols!) and is particularly well known for her work in social justice. Leslee is a Fellow and Certified Mental Performance Consultant® in the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP), has published 124 manuscripts and two books (many with former students), and received AASP’s 2024 Dr. Kate F. Hays Distinguished Mentor Award.
Now retired and living in Key West, Florida, she’s working on a memoir about her adoption, her long search for her biological family members, finding a mother who rejected her, and the DNA testing that eventually led to six biological siblings and a father who never knew she existed.
