Steve Allerton is a Graduate of the Temple University - BFA Tyler School of Art, Rome, Italy. He has traveled to all the major capitals of Europe and viewed all the major collections of art. Upon graduation he found his old masterly style of painting contrary to current trends in modern art, so he eked out a living doing craft shows and renaissance fairs. In the late seventies Steve purchased a sailboat and sailed from New York to Key West, learning the jewelry trade along the way. He is the inventor of the Dolphin whistle sold all over the world.
Steve plays numerous musical instruments, most notably the Harp. He worked as Ships Musician aboard the local charter boat Western Union, and studied Irish music in Dublin, Ireland. Steve has performed at hundreds of weddings and social events in the Keys and other places.
Steve started and ran a charter boat business until he became too sunburned. He has been a first responder for FEMA following disasters in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. He speaks French and Spanish (not that well).
Steve has written dozens of songs and poems and recorded four CDs. He’s started numerous short stories, novels, and a screenplay, but has never been published. At the urging of friends tired of hearing his repetitive cocktail stories, Steve has begun a memoir which he promises to finish.
“I like the memoir form because the things that happened to me are more interesting than anything I can imagine.”
“Key West is a magical place; you can be whatever you want here.”
“I’ve done so many different things because I didn’t know what I wanted to be
when I grew up.”
