During our meetings, writers are asked to bring printed copies of their work to read to the group (reading should take no more than 10 minutes). Several writers are selected to share, and the group takes notes as each writer reads aloud.
Members then share constructive criticism for the author while keeping comments respectful and relevant to the work (what's on the page itself). The author only responds to clarify a specific question.
WHEN: Join us on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month; from 10 am until around 1pm.
WHERE: The club house at La Brisa. Contact VP, Brian "BJ" Condike for details. bjcondike@icloud.com
Meeting contact: Brian "BJ" Condike. Please e-mail Brian "BJ" in advance if you are coming for the first time.
In addition to our regularly scheduled meetings, on select evenings members host smaller gatherings that follow a similar structure as the Saturday meetings, however the rules are more casual.
All writers are given the same prompt (usually three words selected at random) and have about a week to prepare a 750 word story/poem/narrative.
The schedule varies for these evening events. The prompts are a fantastic, stress-free way to get words on paper!
