Linda Moore

Linda has been a writer since a pen was put in her hand. Tucked away in her bedroom, hiding in the family’s tree house or camouflaged in the tall grassy field behind her childhood home in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, she would write the poetry of a young teenager's imaginings. She wrote short stories in seventh-grade English at her Catholic school under the guidance of Mrs. Z., a strict disciplinarian who would make students write one hundred times on the chalkboards any verbal transgressions. Linda’s - “I will not say fart.” Even so, Mrs. Z. was proud of her young student’s talent and encouraged Linda to enter a poetry contest. Winning third place instilled confidence and courage in a young girl who dreamed of writing a book of poems someday.

Journalism school happened and life happened. Poems and short stories and published articles and blogs happened. The book of poems still remains a dream on her bookshelf. But the vision is getting clearer.

Linda is a member of the Key West Writers Guild. Her recent stories, The Chain Saw and the Cherry Tree, Stories from the Boundless Project and Fallen have been featured on Short Fiction Break. Her blog, Sailing Troubadour has nearly 1,000 views each month.

In addition to poetry and short stories, Linda writes creative non-fiction and is working on a memoir of her sailing life. She currently lives in Key West.
