THE CONSISTENT HARDWORKER
Kailash is the program officer for Kaulaunjar from Quest. Originally from Madhya Pradesh, Kailash has been a part of the project for the last two years, soon after Krishna left. With a iron will to bring about a change in the community, he has spent a lot of time building trust in the community - a virtue that reflects in the easy-going relationship he has now with every person in the village.
Balancing the expectations of different stakeholders - students, teachers, parents, government and Quest is no easy feat. Despite not getting recognised enough for the work he’s done, he still continues to work tirelessly.
THE LOCAL PILLAR
A local from the same village, Ashraf was connected with the program from the beginning. He was key in organising the first meeting with the youth of the village. He became the community champion in mid-2016 after undergoing training for facilitating enrichment activities. Having studied from the same school and taught by most of the teachers, he shares a unique rapport with them.
The Shiksha Ratn Puraskar has been one of the biggest acknowledgement of the work he’s done over the last three years. The attendance of parents in the last PTM, the changes seen in the children are small wins than inspire him to do his work better everyday.
THE INSPIRING FACILITATOR
Poonam comes with a range of experience in facilitation and including that of a community champion in the Anandshala program in her hometown. Initially commuting from Khanpur about 40kms away she has persisted through the protests of her family.
Living away from her family and continuing to work after her marriage, she’s become a role-model for young girls in the community. The biggest achievement for her has been the community connect with the school. Children are her biggest strength and motivate her everyday.
