Student Completion and Achievement Rate

• Activities :
• Identify students who need more support through the Early Warning System (EWS)
• Track their progress over time
• Facilitate response strategies to keep them engaged in school
• Connect the community youth to the school through internships and change projects
• Plan remediation classes for weak students
• Disburse scholarships and track students completion

Approach :

• Teacher development around the Early Warning System (EWS) and subject specific training
• Understanding each child, focussing on those who need most support
• Monitoring their progress over time, provide support with consistent follow ups

Outcomes :

• Student retention over a period has increased and sustained as there are various activities on the school campus in which the children are engaged.
• There has been a significant decrease in the percentage of ghost students across all classes compared to March 2018. The rigorous monitoring, supervision and workshops has regulated the number of ghost students.
• Community art workshops and display encourages the students to engage more in the last class activities.
• A steep rise in average attendance was observed across all classes in 1st quarter 2018 in comparison to 1st quarter 2017.

• Socio-cultural hierarchies like caste seeping into the classroom
• Absenteeism due to weather, festivals and village events
• Students engaged in household, farm related work leading to drop-outs and absenteeism
