Activities :
- Activating the Bal Sansad and Meena Manch
- Conducting sports and art based activities with students in the last period
- Facilitating icebreakers, activities in the morning assembly
- Exposure visits for students
- Activating the School Management Committee
- Empowering a changeleader at the school
- Parent engagement
Approach :
- Strengthening student bodies
- Last class enrichment activities facilitating non-academic learning in the school
- Leveraging the morning assembly to build language and social skills
- Democratic elections of the Bal Sansad - increasing the ownership of student leaders to work collaboratively
- Art based approach - school painting by children, community exhibitions
Outcomes :
- Increased confidence and improved communication among students
- Increased participation in last class art, craft, sports activities by students
- Effective implementation of morning assembly where children participated in quiz competition, news etc.
- Increased ownership by students of different school improvement activities
Challenges :
- Lack of support from the parents and the community at large due to poor understanding of the importance of 21st century skills
- Poor leadership at the school level
- Prioritisation of department paperwork and academics over extra-curricular activities
