Activities :
- Improve the teacher to student ratio by working with block and district administration
- Teaching Learning Material procurement for teachers
- Exposure visit for teachers
- Headmaster and teacher workshops
- Monthly teacher and Headmaster meetings
- Preparing yearly calendar for school planning
- Developing professional development plans with the teachers
- Headmaster capacity building & leadership skills
Approach :
- Building a culture of sharing and learning
- Self-reflection and sharing of personal stories to overcome differences in teachers
- Providing exposure to ideas and practices - through exposure visits to schools in Samastipur and Riverside School in Ahmedabad
Outcomes :
- Increased ownership by teachers of different school improvement activities
- Improved punctuality and responsibility towards teaching in school as well as extra-curricular activities
- Improved relationship between teachers and in the student-teacher relationship
- Development of a collaborative and communicative school culture
Challenges :
- Leadership at the school level - 3 headmasters changed in 3 years
- The differences among the teachers themselves
- Inadequate number of teachers
