Purpose & Scope
At Just Another Con, we aim to build a convention environment where creativity, inclusion, respect, and fun thrive.
This Code of Conduct outlines expectations for all participants, attendees, exhibitors, volunteers, staff, panelists, vendors, guests, and contractors, for behavior during the convention and related events (including official social gatherings).
Everyone is expected to uphold these standards.
We believe in:
Respect for all individuals, regardless of identity or background.
Openness, kindness, and empathy in our interactions.
Safety, both physical and emotional, for every person.
Accountability: We are each responsible for our actions and how they affect others.
To help maintain a positive and supportive atmosphere, we ask everyone to:
Use inclusive and respectful language.
Listen when others speak; allow people to share diverse experiences.
Be mindful of others’ comfort levels, boundaries, and feelings.
Follow venue rules, staff instructions, and safety protocols.
Support a welcoming environment by helping where you see issues or distress.
The following behaviors are unacceptable and may result in action, up to removal from the event, without refund:
Harassment, intimidation, bullying, or discrimination, including by race, ethnicity, gender identity/expression, sexual orientation, religion, disability, age, appearance, or other protected characteristic.
Unwelcome or inappropriate physical contact, hugging, touching, or other forms of contact without consent.
Verbal abuse: slurs, insults, demeaning comments, or any speech that degrades or marginalizes others.
Harassing photography or recording: taking photos/videos without consent, especially where privacy is expected.
Disruption of panels, workshops, events, or programming.
Abuse of power or authority (staff, exhibitors, vendors)
e.g. pressuring someone, making lewd comments, or misusing relationships.
Violation of other policies: props, cosplay, safety.
Wearing a costume does not give anyone the right to touch, photograph, comment on, or interact with a cosplayer’s body or props without explicit permission.
This applies widely, regardless of how revealing or modest a costume is.
Cosplayers should be treated with dignity.
Admiration, or playful photography must respect boundaries.
Consent can be withdrawn at any time.
If asked to stop, that request must be immediately honored.
If you see or experience behavior that violates this Code:
Contact any staff member, volunteer, or security.
Look for badges indicating “Con Staff / Security.”
Visit the Operations Desk / Help Desk for in-person support.
Use our online Incident Report Form to submit details.
You may stay anonymous.
We will investigate all reports impartially and take appropriate action.
Actions may include, depending on severity:
Verbal warning and request to modify behavior.
Removal of badge or revoking access to certain areas.
Ejection from the convention, without refund.
Ban from future events.
Notification to venue security or law enforcement where appropriate.
Just Another Con staff and volunteers are responsible for implementing this Code.
They are trained to respond and enforce the rules.
All participants are expected to respect enforcement actions.
Retaliation against anyone who reports misconduct in good faith is prohibited.
The Code of Conduct will be visible on our website, in the program guide, and at key locations at the venue.
